I Cracked the Code to Successful TikTok Shops (Video Tactic)

Never thought you need a ton of followers to be successful selling stuff online? Well, I'm here to tell you that that's not true at all. My adventure selling on TikTok taught me something really cool: even if you're not super popular or famous, you can still crush the e-commerce game on TikTok Shops.

Imagine this: you post a video on TikTok and it could be the start of something awesome as your sales soar. You might not have a large store, a recognizable brand name, or a ton of money to throw at ads to send traffic to your store. But none of that matters anymore. TikTok Shops has leveled the playing field between big brands and smaller sellers that want to enter the space. All you need is a good product, entertaining product videos that showcase what the product does and how it helps customers, and some consistency. TikTok's algorithm will do all the rest and handle the heavy lifting and the traffic for you. You'll be able to build an audience in your niche and start driving sales pretty quickly.

That's the magic of this. TikTok Shops is the biggest opportunity right now in e-commerce, and I do not say that lightly. I haven’t seen anything this easy since Facebook Marketplace launched a few years ago and it was pretty much like anything you listed would sell. That’s TikTok Shops right now.

Of course, there's some things to understand that will make launching your shop and getting sales a lot easier. So, this is what I found to work the best currently.

Find a Hot, In-Demand Product

First things first, you need a hot, in-demand product. Your product-audience fit is crucial, but the truth is you don't need a large audience to get started. With the power of the For You page on TikTok, any one of your videos can blow up if it gets some momentum. Therefore, everyone should begin searching for a hot product that will actually sell.

I can tell you firsthand, I have a shop currently with a few products that sell over and over again. But I didn’t start there. I had to find those products through trial and error. The cool thing is now you don't actually even need to do that. New software is releasing almost daily that makes selling on TikTok Shops a lot easier.

One of those software programs is called Colid Dat. I've covered it in a previous video. It gives you data on everything that's selling on TikTok Shops currently and allows you to see what's trending in your niche specifically: how many sales did it get, how recently are those sales, who specifically is buying it. You don't need to reinvent the wheel here. If something's working for somebody already in your niche, list something very similar to that and test products related to that.

The path of least resistance is the easiest, especially when you’re a beginner.

List Your Products on TikTok Shop

The next step is to list your products on TikTok Shop. Assuming you've already signed up for a shop, you want to list these hot products on your shop once you find them so that you can link them in your videos when you post.

Don't overthink this — just list them with the product pictures on the supplier's website (assuming they're decent quality, which most suppliers will be). For the title and description, I would have ChatGPT rewrite them a little bit and make them better. The title shouldn't be too long; it should be short and to the point to explain what the product is as quickly as possible. Remember, nobody's really searching for your product, so keyword stuffing doesn’t matter at all. People need to understand instantly when they see the title what the product is with zero confusion.

For the description, list maybe three to five short bullet points explaining what the problem that the product solves is and how it can help the customer. Don’t add too much text here and don't get cute. Keep it simple and effective.

It also goes without saying, but you want to mark your price up enough so that when you do sell it, you can obviously keep the difference in profit. That’s drop shipping, that's reselling, that’s e-commerce 101.

Create and Post Product Videos

The next step is to create your product videos to then post to TikTok. Assuming you’ve linked your shop to your TikTok page, now comes the fun part, which is posting the videos. Creating my own content for TikTok Shops was great initially because it was free, and I could get a lot of videos up fast to test different products and niches. But ultimately, I struggled to get sales consistently because my videos just weren’t that good.

First, I’m not the best editor in the world. Second, I didn’t have enough time to plan out different ideas, record them, and then put in enough effort to make them great. Third, I was competing for attention against other higher quality videos on a super-competitive platform. This all changed when I started ordering professional videos. It saved me so much time, the video quality was always great, and each had viral potential. And it didn’t cost me as much as I expected either. I could get professionally done product videos for less than $ 10 a piece in the beginning.

Most importantly, my sales started becoming more and more consistent, and I stopped hoping videos would do well because now I actually had good videos. My go-to site for these videos is Viral Ecom Ads. Check them out if you’re serious about scaling your TikTok Shop.

If you go to viralecomads.com and click their video ad packages, you’ll see that you can order TikTok split testing packages for just $ 50, which will give you three videos you can post for one product. That is roughly $ 16 for an outsourced high-quality professional product video. Then, if you decide to sign up for the VIP plan, the cost of these videos gets exponentially cheaper as you order more, putting the cost of each video easily under $ 10.

The best part is, you don’t need to do anything to prep them or give them extensive instructions. Simply provide a URL and a quick one or two-liner about the product, and they’ll email the videos to you in just three business days. There’s a link in the description if you want to try Viral Ecom Ads. To me, it’s a no-brainer. It saves time and allows me to pump out tons of TikTok Shop videos that actually get sales.

Be Consistent

The next step is the importance of being consistent. This matters in any business, but especially on TikTok Shops. I learned that posting videos regularly is super important. I tried to put up at least five videos every single day pretty consistently this past month. Of course, not all those videos were hits, but sometimes one video can start bringing in a load of sales. That's all it takes.

If you’re posting professional videos consistently, you'll notice that your baseline views start going up along with your daily sales, assuming that you have a hot product. The truth is none of this is rocket science. That’s the craziest part. You don’t need to have a large following from the start. You don’t need to build a snazzy-looking e-commerce store. You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars driving people to your store with paid ads because TikTok's organic reach brings those eyeballs to you.

Every eyeball is now a potential opportunity to make a sale since you can link your products directly in your videos with a TikTok Shop. This is a truly massive opportunity. Hop on it now and strike while the iron is hot.
