How I Made $ 41K in a Day! And How TikTok Shop is Working for My Business - Small Business Vlog

Introduction

Friday literally got so crazy that I stopped recording or doing anything other than just packing orders. It was the craziest weekend ever for EBD.

A Day of Fun Chaos

It's another grab bag day and I am so excited for some fun chaos. I always look forward to grab bags because it is always so exciting seeing all the orders come in, and packing all the grab bags is really fun. We all work together, and I think it's just a good time. So I've got my Starbucks, and I'm ready to go.

Kicking Off the Day

First on the agenda today is shipping out the orders that came in yesterday because we released the grab bags early to our Facebook group. So we have those to get started on right away. Then, we released the grab bags to everybody at noon. I put together a little example grab bag to post on Instagram, and it includes a couple of washi tape, a pencil pouch, lanyard, seven pens in every single grab bag, 10 stickers, a tea towel, and mini reusable bags.

Getting Ready for the Big Launch

Grab bags go live in about 14 minutes, and that's when the email goes out. I'm a little bit nervous but I'm going to post it on Instagram stories early. It's already been on the Facebook group, and story watchers are very loyal. I want to give them an advantage in getting some of the lower stock items.

The Instagram story is uploading now, so we'll just see how that goes. There's about 14 people on the website right now, and we'll see how that climbs as people click the link from Instagram and also the email goes out. I also updated the website so that grab bags are on our home page because that's what we do every time we have the sale, and I added a link to the banner too.

People are starting to see the Instagram post because we already have a bunch of people on the site; up to like 35 now. We'll keep an eye on it and be able to tell when the email goes out for sure. I also need to double-check the inventory because we had a couple of 2023 planners left that were on our damage shelf. They had slight imperfections and those are an option on our grab bag.

The Big Moment

I got that inventory up to date and now it's just waiting about a minute and a half before our email goes out and everybody gets on the site. It's noon and you can definitely see the visitors climbing on the website which is really cool. We started out with about 102 grab bags claimed by everybody who had early access on the Facebook group.

There are like 600 people on the site now. Each little line on this map is an order going out. There's a ton getting placed every second now and I'm getting a ton of notifications.

The Crazy Weekend

So it’s Monday now and Friday literally got so crazy that I stopped recording or doing anything other than just packing orders. It was the craziest weekend ever for EBD. We did $ 41,000 in sales on Friday, which is a new single-day record for EBD. My team and I just worked all weekend on packing orders to make sure we get them out as quickly as possible. The reason it got so crazy is that the TikTok I posted about grab bags got over a million views.

A New Experience on TikTok Shop

After the original release of grab bags to our Facebook group, email list, text message subscribers, and Instagram story watchers, we had sold through maybe 500 of the grab bags. Then, I posted on TikTok and TikTok Shop. A TikTok post about grab bags can sort of make or break the grab bag round.

This was the first time I've posted grab bags on TikTok Shop, which was a new experience and it totally popped off. The TikTok got like 4 million views. We were completely swamped. It was by far the best grab bag round we ever had with the most revenue we’ve ever done in a day, which was $ 41,000 on the website and another $ 7,000 to $ 8,000 on TikTok.

Wrapping it Up

This kept our office busy for literally weeks afterward. It was fabulous for the business but very stressful for sure. This was a crazy day and week, and I wasn't expecting it. TikTok Shop has been really good for EBD over the past month. It was a little confusing with options on our website and TikTok Shop, but it all worked out.
