TikTok Celebrates LGBTQ+ Community with 2023 Visionary Voices List and Pride Campaign

TikTok is honoring Pride Month by celebrating and recognizing the LGBTQIA+ community through their 2023 LGBTQ+ Visionary Voices list and Pride campaign. The list includes 15 LGBTQIA+ creators and small business owners who are using TikTok to educate, entertain, and advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community. This year's honorees are recognized across three categories: Creators, Small Owned Businesses, and Industry Disruptors.

Creators

  • Devin Halbal (@hal.baddie): A social media icon known for spreading positivity and inspiring transgender women.
  • Jae Gurley (@jaegurley): A Black fem nonbinary creator who encourages individuality and confidence.
  • Mercury Stardust (@mercurystardust): A professional home maintenance technician and award-winning activist advocating for trans health care.
  • Jake Shane (@octopusslover8): A comedian and content creator who opens up conversations about mental health.
  • Am and Noey (@thezletnis): Queer sisters focusing on self-expression, inclusive fashion, and LGBTQ+ advocacy.

Industry Disruptors

  • Saucy Santana (@saucysantana): A vibrant artist with a strong presence in the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Tate Farris (@imbabytate): An ever-evolving artist known for their music and viral moments.
  • The Old Gays (@oldgays): A group of four voices performing dance trends and advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Jonathan Kung (@jonkung): Teaches people how to cook and express their cultures and personalities through food.
  • Andre Isaacs (@drdre4000): An associate professor of chemistry challenging normative STEM culture and promoting inclusivity.

Small-Owned Businesses (SMBs)

  • Jodyann Morgan (@ctoan.co): A queer Black candle business owner celebrating all bodies, candles, and food.
  • Eunice Straight Head (@n00nice): An Indigenous artist bringing Indigenous representation to the media.
  • David Yi (@goodlight.world): A journalist and co-founder of the gender-inclusive beauty brand Good Light Cosmetics.
  • Jack and Bec (@jackandbec): Sisters, illustrators, and designers uplifting underrepresented communities.
  • Nicholas Scheppard and Jenson Titus (@verygaypaint): Comedians-turned-painters entertaining and inspiring their community.

TikTok is committed to amplifying the voices of the LGBTQIA+ community and celebrating Pride Month through in-app initiatives, LIVE events, and special programming. They will also host IRL event moments, including the Visionary Voices Salon series and the TikTok Pride Creator Ball celebration. Throughout Pride Month, their in-app programming hub will feature inspiring stories and organizations, and they will highlight LGBTQIA+ artists with their #PrideAnthems music programming. They will also host a webinar on queer inclusivity in marketing, showcasing the strategies of LGBTQIA+-owned SMBs on TikTok.

At TikTok, they prioritize creating a safe and inclusive environment for all. They take action against harassment, bullying, hate speech, and hateful behavior, and provide safety features for users to report violative content. They are honored to be part of the community's path to Pride and will continue to build an inspiring and inclusive platform for all voices.
