Celebrating Women on TikTok: International Women's Day 2022

This International Women's Day (IWD), we celebrate the remarkable women in the US who use their creativity and passion to make a positive impact on our community through TikTok. Women on TikTok come together to express themselves, share their stories, and break down stereotypes. They showcase their creativity, unbeatable spirit, and power through original tracks like @emmymelimusic's and challenge societal biases with creators like @naomiheartsxo. TikTok provides a platform for women to entertain, connect, and support each other.

The theme for this year's IWD is #BreakTheBias, which calls for the recognition and addressing of biases women face in order to advance every day. On TikTok, women find ways to navigate these challenges by supporting one another. They exchange tips on #CareerTok to negotiate better benefits and higher wages, and candidly share their experiences as parents, offering valuable advice like @maiaknight. From inspirational speakers to female lawyers decoding legal jargon, TikTok celebrates the amazing examples set by women creators.

For example, @erikakullberg, known as "TikTok's #1 Lawyer," is an attorney and personal finance expert who demystifies legal proceedings and creates accessible content for entrepreneurs and business owners. @scarlet_may.1, a 20-year-old deaf creator, uses TikTok to entertain, educate about the deaf community, and perform ASL covers. These creators inspire and motivate others.

TikTok also provides a platform for women-owned businesses to showcase their products and connect with a passionate community. From small business tutorials to order fulfillment videos, female entrepreneurs and small business owners worldwide share insights into their workshops, storefronts, and boardrooms. While we celebrate their achievements, we acknowledge the need to further support and eliminate gender disparities.

For instance, @Sanisisters is a North Carolina-based fashion brand that shares their South Asian-inspired formal and loungewear through TikTok. @mrsrobinsonstea is a tea shop that educates the TikTok community about tea knowledge and products, including Marlene Robinson's "Spilling the Tea" segment.

To celebrate International Women's Day 2022, TikTok will host live celebrations featuring six women creators. Each creator will showcase their unique way of celebrating IWD. Additionally, TikTok will curate content for the Discover Page with daily and weekly themes, such as #WhenWomenWin, #WomenInMusic, #WomenInGaming, and #WomenOwnedBusiness.
