TikTok Launches Updated Transparency Center

TikTok Launches Updated Transparency Center

TikTok has launched its updated online Transparency Center, which will serve as a hub for all of TikTok's historical Transparency Reports. The center aims to provide transparency and accountability for TikTok's actions and the protection of its integrity.

The Transparency Reports cover various aspects, including:

  • Community Guidelines Enforcement Report: Provides quarterly insights into the actions taken to uphold TikTok's Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.

  • Information Requests Report: Offers bi-annual data on legal requests for user information from government and law enforcement agencies, along with TikTok's response.

  • Government Removal Requests Report: Details requests received from government agencies to restrict content and the corresponding actions taken.

  • Intellectual Property Removal Requests Report: Showcases the volume of copyright and trademark content takedown notices and TikTok's response.

  • California Privacy Rights Report: Released annually, outlines the requests to know and requests to delete received from US users.

Throughout the development of these refreshed report formats, TikTok actively sought feedback from civil society organizations and experts. This input has been instrumental in introducing new features, such as the ability to download data in machine-readable formats. Additionally, the reports now feature interactive charts and graphs to enhance data visualization and better illustrate TikTok's actions.

The reports will be published in 26 languages to ensure accessibility for a diverse global audience. TikTok aims to make its Transparency Center a comprehensive resource for understanding how the platform moderates and recommends content, develops products, and safeguards user information. Today's updates mark another step towards achieving this goal, with more updates to come in the future.
