TikTok Launches Program to Support Latinx Creatives

TikTok has announced the launch of a new program called 'TikTok Latinx Creatives' aimed at nurturing and developing talented Latinx creators and music artists. The program, which will run for 10 weeks, aims to strengthen the Latinx creative community on TikTok and provide support, education, and development opportunities.

To ensure the success of the program, TikTok has partnered with MACRO, a multiplatform media company representing Black people and persons of color. MACRO will provide guidance, programming content, and business opportunities for the program participants. Additionally, a grant will be created to support a select group of Latinx creators and music artists in their content creator careers.

The representation of Latinx individuals in the entertainment industry is still lacking, with only 5.7% of movie roles in 2020 being filled by Latinx actors, despite the Latinx community comprising over 18% of the U.S. population. However, on TikTok, Latinx artists have a dedicated fan base, and Latinx community hashtags have generated over 10 billion video views, showcasing the engagement and interest in Latinx content.

Through the TikTok for Latinx Creatives program, emerging creators and music artists will have the opportunity to participate in educational events, workshops, and community-building forums with influential Latinx entrepreneurs and celebrities from various industries. The program aims to empower Latinx creators to tell their stories authentically and help them progress towards their career goals.

TikTok has previously launched a successful program called TikTok for Black Creatives, which nurtured and developed talented Black creators and music artists. This program served as a launch pad for various professional opportunities and collaborations within the entertainment industry.

If you are a Latinx TikTok creator who meets the eligibility criteria, you can apply for the TikTok for Latinx Creatives program until September 8. This program aims to provide support, education, and development opportunities for Latinx creators and music artists, fostering a diverse and inclusive creative community on TikTok.

TikTok and MACRO are excited to collaborate once again to identify and develop the next generation of Latinx entertainers. By amplifying their voices and providing a platform for their stories, TikTok and MACRO aim to create a more inclusive and representative entertainment industry.
