TikTok Artists Shine at the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards
The 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards, known as music's biggest night, is a global celebration of the best and brightest in the music industry. This year's ceremony was particularly significant for TikTok, as many of the platform's favorite artists were honored with GRAMMY wins.
Lizzo, who is often referred to as the "Queen of TikTok," took home the Record Of The Year award for her megahit "About Damn Time," which has inspired over 4.1 million video creations on TikTok. Her performance of "Special" and her empowering acceptance speech resonated with the TikTok community.
Sam Smith and Kim Petras delivered a memorable performance of their song "Unholy," which gained popularity on TikTok before becoming a Billboard #1 Hot 100 hit. Their collaboration earned them the GRAMMY for Best Pop Duo or Group Performance.
Steve Lacy brought his TikTok-fueled smash "Bad Habit" to the stage, accompanied by Thundercat. Lacy won his first GRAMMY award in the Best Progressive R&B Album category for his album Gemini Rights.
Beyonce made history by winning four GRAMMY awards, becoming the most-decorated person in the award's 65-year history. Her album RENAISSANCE, which includes trending hits like "BREAK MY SOUL" and "CUFF IT," received widespread acclaim on TikTok. Bad Bunny's album Un Verano Sin Ti won the award for Best Musica Urbana Album. The album's songs, such as "Me Porto Bonito" and "Tití Me Preguntó," went viral on TikTok, showcasing the artist's talent and popularity.
The 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards also highlighted rising artists who utilized TikTok to launch their careers. Best New Artist winner Samara Joy, known for her exquisite vocals and delicate jazz songs, had already cultivated a loyal following on TikTok. R&B singer Muni Long won Best R&B Performance for her hit "Hrs and Hrs," which gained traction on TikTok through SoundOn, the platform's music distribution service. Isle of Man rock band Wet Leg, with their debut album and the trending hit "Chaise Longue," won Best Alternative Album and Best Alternative Performance.
