Setting up my new VITTSJO shelf

Introduction

Hello friends, and welcome back to my channel! Today, I wanted to share the process of rearranging a corner of my bedroom and enhancing my plant setup. Recently, while out walking with my friend Joe, we stumbled upon a VITTSJO shelf on the sidewalk. It was left out for free, along with some other Ikea furniture. Naturally, we couldn’t resist bringing it home, and after a brief struggle, we carried it back together—Joe mostly did the heavy lifting while I managed the glass shelves.

The plan for this shelf is to create a better plant display in the corner of my bedroom, where I’ve currently accumulated a lot of unnecessary items and scattered clutter. At the moment, the old setup holds just a few plants, and it’s not serving the purpose I want. Since I've been diligent about downsizing my plant collection, I hope to use the new shelf efficiently and rehome some of the plants to improve the overall aesthetic.

In my corner, I have a tension rod with three hanging plants that I’m still deciding whether to keep. Each of these plants is quite significant to me, including my Alocasia frydek and a Pothos. The rest of the current display consists mostly of books and miscellaneous items, and I'm eager to change that.

After clearing the area and emptying out everything, I noticed my Pepperomia was infested with thrips. It was clear that it was time to toss that plant and focus on what truly belongs in this setup. Next, I turned my attention to dusting off the remaining plants while strategizing about their new homes.

Now that the area is clean and ready for the new shelf, I’m excited to see how it will fit into the space. The VITTSJO shelf can be placed either longways or deep into the corner, offering various options for styling and plant arrangement. As I arranged the shelves, I made room for a grow light since this corner doesn’t receive much natural sunlight.

After some trial and error with plant positioning, I decided to assign specific shelves for different types of plants and rearranged my books accordingly. I even managed to hang my Hoya and a few other plants to add layers to the display. By integrating a grow light into the setup, I feel confident that my plants will thrive, even in a low-light environment.

In conclusion, the rearrangement was a mix of chaos and creativity, but I’m thrilled with the final result. The corner now feels vibrant and well-organized, embodying my passion for houseplants.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. If you enjoyed the process, please give this post a thumbs up, leave a comment with your own plant setup tips, and don’t forget to subscribe for more planty adventures. Until next time, continue growing your green spaces!
