TikTok Commits to Improving Online Safety for Women

TikTok, in collaboration with the Web Foundation, is working to understand the experiences of women online and improve their safety. The company is committed to addressing two key priorities identified by women: improved reporting systems and more control over their online experiences.

Over the next few months, TikTok will be developing and testing potential product changes to address these priorities and make the platform safer for women. Safety is a top priority for TikTok as it believes that a safe environment is essential for creativity and self-expression. The company enforces its Community Guidelines using advanced technology and a team of safety professionals worldwide. It also collaborates with external safety experts to stay updated on the ever-evolving challenges in online safety.

TikTok aims to empower its community and ensure they feel in control of their experience on the platform. Users have the ability to control who can comment on their videos, filter comments, and manage their comment section. They can also report inappropriate content and behavior through the in-app reporting button, which is fast, easy, and confidential.

In addition to investing in technology, TikTok provides resources to its community on important issues like sexual assault. During Sexual Assault Awareness Month, TikTok partnered with the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) to support conversations about sexual violence and connect survivors with resources and educational content within the app.

TikTok is committed to improving online safety for women and will continue to share updates on its progress. In the meantime, users can visit the Safety Center to learn more about staying safe on TikTok.
