TikTok Launches #MuseumMoment: A Global Event Celebrating Cultural Expression

As a global entertainment platform, TikTok is dedicated to celebrating cultural expression and the arts. It empowers communities worldwide to explore and discover culture in various forms, including art, music, dance, and theater. On May 18, TikTok will launch its first-ever #MuseumMoment, a live global event that brings together some of the world's most iconic institutions.

During this all-day event, TikTok users will have the opportunity to embark on a virtual tour of 23 museums across 12 different countries. The tour will start at the National Gallery in Singapore and take viewers on a journey through cultural institutions in Israel, Japan, Brazil, France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, UK, USA, and Mexico. The live stream will be available on TikTok for Good, the platform's global social impact content hub.

#MuseumMoment LIVE aims to provide people with a unique cultural experience from around the world. Participants can enjoy a variety of content, such as a tour of 1930's England at the Black Country Museum in the UK, insights from a taxidermy expert at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin in Germany, and the opportunity to view famous artworks like The Night Watch by Rembrandt at the Rijksmuseum in The Netherlands. Additionally, viewers can explore the iconic spaces of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in the US and take a virtual tour of the Sacramento History Museum, which gained popularity on TikTok for its print shop and new exhibit, "California in Print."

To enhance the immersive experience, TikTok is launching a new augmented reality (AR) effect at the Palace of Versailles. Users can transform into Queen Marie Antoinette and virtually stroll through the gallery.

TikTok has become a platform that not only inspires creativity but also celebrates culture on a global scale. Over the past year, renowned cultural institutions have joined TikTok to connect with a wider audience and offer immersive online experiences. The platform has witnessed a significant increase in the consumption of art and culture, with popular hashtags like #FineArt, #ArtHistory, and #ArtOnTikTok generating over 2 billion monthly views globally. The popularity of culture-related content has grown by over 3000% in the past year, with the hashtag #Museum inspiring the most video creations worldwide.

TikTok allows art enthusiasts to virtually visit iconic institutions and explore diverse cultural experiences. Whether it's viewing art, discovering something unusual, or learning about history, TikTok offers a platform for people to satisfy their curiosity. From a chocolate waterfall in Lebanon to the musical masterpieces of Italian creator Emanuele Aloia at the Uffizi Gallery in Italy, TikTok transcends borders and brings culture to a global audience.
