TikTok Launches Initiatives for Mental Health Awareness Month

TikTok takes pride in being a safe platform where people can comfortably share their personal stories and openly discuss well-being. The platform is constantly inspired by the support the community provides to one another. In honor of #MentalHealthAwareness Month, TikTok is launching new initiatives to promote positive mental well-being, combat stigma, and provide support to the community.

To deliver impact, TikTok is partnering with various organizations and launching a Mental Health Media Education Fund. Over $2 million in ad credits will be donated to organizations working on supporting mental well-being. Some of the organizations include the Alliance for Eating Disorders, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Crisis Text Line, Made of Millions, National Alliance on Mental Illness, National Eating Disorders Association, and Peer Health Exchange. Additionally, TikTok will host training sessions to equip partners with the tools they need to share information during critical moments.

TikTok is committed to working with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) to raise awareness and provide resources for individuals and families affected by eating disorders. The platform serves as an important place for raising awareness and understanding of eating disorders from various perspectives.

To encourage supportive conversations, TikTok is launching a #MentalHealthAwareness hub where the community can learn about well-being topics, connect with advocates, and support organizations providing resources. The hub will be continually updated throughout May to highlight educational videos, mental health creators, and organizations dedicated to raising awareness about mental health.

TikTok recognizes the impact of creators in the #MentalHealthAwareness community and is spotlighting 10 creators who have made a significant impact on and off the platform. These creators use TikTok to educate the community on mental health awareness and promote open and authentic conversations.

As a platform used by millions of people worldwide, TikTok is committed to protecting the community. They remove content that violates their Community Guidelines and offer features to explore TikTok safely. They redirect searches related to sensitive topics, allow users to refresh their feed, and use keywords to tailor feeds and avoid potentially triggering content. For users under 18, TikTok sets a default daily screen time limit of one hour to encourage intentional use of digital time.

TikTok continues to support #MentalHealthAwareness through collaboration with mental health organizations, content creators, and the TikTok community. They aim to create a space where everyone feels heard and supported. TikTok believes in providing access to resources and support for mental well-being and is dedicated to continuous learning and making a difference.
