Celebrating Black Music Month on TikTok

TikTok is a thriving platform for Black culture, driven by a vibrant and diverse community of creators and artists. In honor of Black Music Month, we are celebrating the significant contributions of Black musicians on TikTok and beyond.

Join us for a series of LIVE streams featuring a diverse lineup of artists, offering a wide range of programming from album anniversaries to intimate live performances. On June 2nd, we will team up with Alicia Keys to commemorate the 20th anniversary of her GRAMMY-winning debut album, "Songs In A-Minor." Alicia will share stories about the album's creation, collaborate with TikTok creators, and engage with the community in the live comments.

Rising rap star Coi Leray will also host a session of Headstream, a new TikTok LIVE series that takes you inside the minds of your favorite artists, on June 11th. Stay tuned for more exciting events throughout the month, including curated performances from Grammy and Academy Award winners H.E.R. and T-Pain.

In collaboration with Color Of Change, MACRO, and the Recording Academy, we invite artists and creators to join us in commemorating the power of Black culture, art, and expression during Black Music Month. Through the celebration of music from Black movie soundtracks, we aim to amplify Color Of Change's #ChangeMusic and #ChangeHollywood initiatives. Creators are encouraged to use TikTok's creative functions to highlight their favorite songs and soundtrack moments from films using the hashtag #TellBlackStories.

Our music team will curate a series of playlists for Black Music Month, showcasing great music from past and present by Black artists who have found success on the app. These playlists will be accessible from TikTok's music hub.

TikTok is committed to uplifting Black creators and artists and will continue to support the community through initiatives like TikTok for Black Creatives. Follow along with the hashtag #BlackMusic as you find your own way to celebrate, inspire, and educate during Black Music Month.
