Research and Niche Selection

I decided to check out YouTube’s Shorts feed to identify high-performing videos. One observation was that many successful videos on both platforms were faceless and utilized AI, garnering hundreds of thousands of views. This drove home the point that you do not need to appear on camera to achieve virality.

After thorough research, I opted for the news niche, specifically focusing on crime. This type of content tends to hold an audience's attention and encourages discussions—perfect for what's trending. Covering UK news lessened the burden of addressing global events, helping me avoid burnout while still producing timely content.

Crafting Viral Content

To reach 1,000 followers quickly, I focused on producing content with viral potential. I created a checklist to ensure each of my videos had the following characteristics:

  • Appears on the for you page, indicating a chance to go viral.
  • Strong engagement metrics such as likes, comments, and saves.
  • Videos posted within the past 48 hours, ensuring relevance.

Once I identified videos that met these criteria, it was time to create my own. My objective was to post two to three times daily, allowing me to capitalize on breaking news trends.

Video Production Process

To streamline video creation, I researched an account with multiple viral videos that were simple to recreate. I gathered images from reputable news sources like Sky News and the Daily Mail—12 to 15 images in total. Aiming for frequent scene changes kept my videos dynamic and engaging.

With everything organized, I could produce a polished video in just under 20 minutes, right from my phone.

Journey to 1,000 Followers

On July 8th, my content journey began with two videos. The first garnered 1,873 views and netted 5 new followers, while the second shot to 9,957 views, bringing in another follower. Day 2 proved even more fruitful as one of my videos received 22,000 views, contributing to an influx of followers.

By July 25th, I had posted 34 videos, leading to my account reaching 1,000 followers in just 17 days, making me eligible for the TikTok Shop Creator program. In total, this required less than 12 hours of work, which is incredibly efficient.
