Latinx Heritage Month on TikTok

Latinx Heritage Month on TikTok celebrates the cultures and contributions of Latinx Americans. The TikTok community honors the history, culture, and accomplishments of the Latinx community through hashtags, creative effects, and live events.

Hashtags & In-App Creative Effects

The TikTok community continues to drive the growth of #LatinxCreated content through popular hashtags such as #Latino, #Latina, #Familia, #Comida, #Hispanic, and #FamiliaLatina. These hashtags have seen a significant increase in usage since Latinx Heritage Month 2020. To further celebrate Latinx Heritage Month, TikTok has introduced new creative stickers featuring images of beloved food, traditions, phrases, and more. These stickers can be added to videos to showcase Latinx culture.

2021 Latinx Trailblazers

TikTok is proud to partner with Mitú to unveil the second cohort of Latinx TikTok Trailblazers. These creators have been nominated by the community for their creativity, passion, and authentic spirit. They represent the next generation of Latinx digital entertainment leaders. Each Trailblazer brings their unique talents and perspectives to TikTok, creating content that spreads laughter, joy, and cultural awareness.

Latinx Creatives

Following the success of the TikTok for Black Creatives pilot program, TikTok is launching the TikTok Latinx Creatives program in partnership with MACRO. This program aims to support and provide economic opportunities for diverse Latinx creators and emerging artists. 150 Latinx Creatives will be selected to participate in mentorship and career-building opportunities.

Celebrating Latin Music

Latin music is a vibrant and growing genre on TikTok. The community enjoys a diverse range of Latin music, from the latest Reggaeton hits to traditional genres like Mexican norteño and merengue. TikTok has become a platform for Latin artists to showcase their music and connect with fans. To celebrate Latinx Heritage Month, TikTok has curated playlists that highlight the full spectrum of Latin music, including genres like Cumbia, dembow, and Pop Urbano.

LIVE Programming and Events

Throughout Latinx Heritage Month, TikTok will be hosting weekly LIVE events to showcase creators, musicians, and public figures from the Latinx community. These events will cover various themes, from food to pop culture, and will culminate in a grand finale. TikTok will also have an in-app hub with information about the events, spotlights on Latinx Trailblazers, curated playlists, and a section dedicated to Latinx businesses.

Supporting the Community

TikTok is committed to supporting and celebrating the Latinx community beyond entertainment. The platform is donating $250,000 to nine organizations that focus on career development, family support, education, and more. TikTok is also partnering with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) through the #CreciendoconTikTok grant fund, which aims to elevate and expand 30 small Latinx businesses across the U.S.
