TikTok Supports Latinx Small Businesses with Grant Fund

TikTok is dedicated to supporting small business owners from diverse backgrounds by providing them with a platform to connect and grow their businesses. The past 18 months have been particularly challenging for businesses, especially for Latinx small businesses, which have been disproportionately affected. In fact, 86% of Latinx business owners reported immediate negative impacts from COVID-19.

To aid in the recovery of small businesses, TikTok has partnered with The Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) to establish #CreciendoconTikTok, a grant fund of $150,000. The aim of this fund is to expand and elevate 30 small Latinx businesses across the United States. #CreciendoconTikTok builds upon the existing partnership between TikTok and HHF, which was initially announced last year to support the long-term success of the Hispanic community.

The grant fund will provide individual cash awards of $5,000 to selected Latinx small business owners who have demonstrated perseverance, hard work, and entrepreneurship through TikTok during the COVID-19 crisis. TikTok takes pride in being a platform where Latinx business owners can share their stories, build an audience, and celebrate their culture and community.

One inspiring example is Jenni Reyes, a Latinx small business owner based in Norristown, Philadelphia. She joined TikTok in March 2020 to promote her chocolate-covered strawberry business, "Reyes Paradise Treats." Through her TikTok videos, she takes her followers behind the scenes as she creates delightful treats and artfully packages them for customers. With over 50,000 followers, she has built a supportive community and now aims to inspire other entrepreneurs to start their own businesses.

TikTok has consistently prioritized the success of small businesses and the promotion of Latinx creators. In 2020, they provided $100 million in ad credits to help small businesses recover and launched the Small Biz Block Party, a nationwide workshop series for small businesses. During National Small Business Month, they initiated the #SupportSmallBusinesses campaign to help the TikTok community discover new small businesses. Additionally, they introduced the Latinx TikTok Trailblazers List to recognize the next generation of Latinx digital entertainment leaders.
