TikTok Creators Share College Experiences and Tips

As universities across the country are getting back into the swing of #CollegeLife, we have seen some amazing creators on TikTok sharing their experiences and advice. From #OOTDs to #bamarush, students are using TikTok to showcase how they are preparing for the new school year. In our Creator Spotlight Series, we had the opportunity to chat with @espdaniella and @MandaPandie about their college experiences and their tips for other student creators.

@espdaniella started on TikTok earlier this year after taking the advice of her followers on other platforms. She is grateful for the exposure and opportunities she has received on TikTok, including being a part of the TikTok for Black Creatives Program and being nominated for Adcolor's TikTok Creator Award. She focuses on helping students win scholarships and inspiring others to pursue education in the medical field.

@MandaPandie got started on TikTok to connect with friends and family. She is most proud of a painting she did of Malcom X. She appreciates the confidence and interaction within the TikTok community, which allows for stronger bonds between influencers and the audience.

Both creators love TikTok for its algorithm and the way it promotes their content. They appreciate the ability to reach more students, educators, and families through the platform.

When it comes to content creation tips for college creators, @espdaniella advises investing in oneself and experimenting with different video types. Once a theme or aesthetic resonates with the audience, it is important to stick to it and find ways to improve it. @MandaPandie suggests creating and posting original content, connecting personally with the audience, and sharing one's college experience.

With dorm-related hashtags trending on TikTok, @espdaniella believes that an air purifier is a must-have item for college students to combat unpleasant odors. She also recommends earplugs or noise cancellation earphones for dealing with noisy neighbors. @MandaPandie emphasizes the importance of having a comfortable and quiet space for studying, with fluffy pillows and dim lighting.

In terms of money-saving advice, @espdaniella suggests applying for scholarships as a job or investment that can pay off significantly. She highlights the potential to earn a high hourly payment through winning scholarships. @MandaPandie advises college students to limit eating out to weekends and make use of meal plans or kitchenettes to save money on food expenses.

For incoming college students, @espdaniella advises tricking oneself about deadlines by setting earlier due dates on the calendar. This helps avoid procrastination and ensures timely submission of assignments, scholarship applications, and internship deadlines. She also recommends using a digital calendar for reminders. @MandaPandie encourages new students to relax, focus on their studies, and prioritize assignments over distractions. Using a planner or digital tools can help stay organized and on track.
