TikTok's #CreateKindness Campaign: Embracing Creativity and Promoting Kindness

At TikTok, we value creativity and our diverse community. Our goal is to provide a welcoming space for people worldwide, where they can freely express themselves and support each other. To promote kindness in everyday life, we have launched the #CreateKindness campaign, a global safety initiative and creative video series. As part of this campaign, we are featuring six talented creator-animators who have contributed their unique styles and personal experiences with online bullying.

One of these creators is Diana Maria (@milkymichii), a self-taught artist who specializes in creating animations inspired by music. Diana finds music and the color pink to be integral to her creative process, often incorporating them into her videos.

When asked about her art style, Diana describes it as simple yet detailed. She joined TikTok initially for the fun memes but soon discovered a community of like-minded artists who enjoy sharing their work. Since then, she has been posting her art during breaks from college, finding inspiration and growth through her interactions with others.

Diana's art has received kind comments on TikTok, with one person expressing that her art brings them happiness. When asked to illustrate kindness, Diana envisions a handshake, symbolizing solidarity and kindness.

Diana draws inspiration from various TikTok creators, including @Tootymcnooty, @missriahanimates, @camtoonist, @milkrune, @zobeebop, @recokh, and @abnormalchaos. She admires the TikTok community for its ability to connect people and foster friendships.

Regarding online bullying, Diana believes it stems from individuals' insecurities and the desire to exert control or superiority over others. Jealousy can also play a role in bullying behavior. To create a kinder and more inclusive internet, Diana suggests being open to positivity and self-reflection. Recognizing the motives behind wanting to hurt others and working on personal growth can contribute to a kinder online environment and a kinder world.

For her video in the #CreateKindness campaign, Diana drew inspiration from her personal experiences with constant harassment and targeting. After writing the script, she brought her ideas to life through animation and music.

We also encourage you to participate in the #CreateKindness hashtag challenge by sharing kind comments and inspiring moments you've experienced.
