Transgender Day of Visibility: Celebrating Trans and Nonbinary Creators on TikTok

Today is Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV), a day to celebrate and recognize the achievements of transgender and nonbinary individuals who use their platforms to educate, inspire, and advocate for transgender visibility. It is a time for allies and transgender communities to reflect on the historical impact of the trans community in mainstream culture and industries.

On this day, we want to highlight some trailblazing trans and nonbinary creators on TikTok who fearlessly share their stories and bring joy to their audience. These creators include:

  • Dylan Mulvaney: A trans Broadway actress and comedian who gained popularity through her viral series "Days of Girlhood," documenting her transition journey.
  • Naomi: A proud trans woman and lifestyle influencer who promotes self-love and plus-size fashion.
  • Alex: An LGBTQ+ content creator known for their transition videos and also runs a business to raise awareness and funds for Cytomegalovirus (CMV).
  • Ve'ondre Mitchell: A Black Latinx trans woman who uses her platform to educate and raise awareness about trans issues.
  • Zaya Perysian: A Black trans woman who shares educational videos to destigmatize the lives of trans women.

In addition to celebrating these creators, it is important to recognize the non-profit and advocacy groups on TikTok that provide support to trans and nonbinary communities. The It Gets Better Project uplifts and empowers LGBTQ+ youth worldwide through educational programs and community projects. Trans Lifeline offers direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis.

As we celebrate Transgender Day of Visibility, let us continue to support and uplift trans voices not just today, but throughout the year.
