Celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility on TikTok

Today, we invite the TikTok community to join us in celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) and honoring the inspiring trans creators who bring joy and pride to TikTok. Every year on March 31, we pause to reflect on the progress of the trans community and celebrate their achievements. We are incredibly proud of the diverse trans and non-binary creators who share their stories on TikTok.

To mark TDOV, we are spotlighting trans changemakers and creators with a special TikTok LIVE series. The series will feature live segments with creators Jesse Sullivan, Emira D'Spain, Devin Halbal, and Somaya, as well as collaborations with PAPER Magazine and the LGBTQ+ nonprofit organization The It Gets Better Project. Tune in to our @TikTok handle at 6 PM PT to watch the #TransVisibility LIVE series and celebrate trans joy.

The TikTok community is filled with inspiring trans and non-binary creators to look up to and learn from. From musicians representing the trans community in music to creators sharing their experiences as trans parents, there is a wealth of content to explore. Here are a few creators to know and follow:

  • @xoxoemira (She/Her) - Emira D'Spain is a beauty and style creator who offers tips and insights from her authentic point of view. Her content unlocks some of the industry's best-kept secrets.
  • @hal.baddie (She/Her) - Devin Halbal shares lifestyle content, travel journeys, and mantras with a positive and humorous flair. She aims to inspire other transgender women to live their lives to the fullest.
  • @jessesulli (He/Him) - Jesse Sulli is a transgender father who shares his journey of raising his daughter Arlo. His mission is to highlight that families come in all forms and to be a role model for young transgender individuals worldwide.
  • @somayamusic (He/She/They) - Somaya is an Indian-American music artist making a name for themselves on and off TikTok. They share powerful music and humorous content, aiming to create more representation as a Queer Desi person.

In celebration of TDOV, we also want to recognize the non-profit and advocacy groups on TikTok that champion and support trans and non-binary communities. Be sure to follow them for educational resources and ways to give back:

  • @itgetsbetter: The It Gets Better Project uplifts and empowers LGBTQ+ youth globally. They provide educational content on sexual health, Black LGBTQ+ pioneers, and how to be an LGBTQ+ ally.
  • @translifeline: Trans Lifeline offers direct emotional and financial support to trans people in crisis. They provide tips on safe binding, using correct pronouns, and assistance with legal name changes.

Join us in celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility and supporting the trans community on TikTok. Together, we can create a more inclusive and accepting world.
