Celebrating #BlackTikTok and Black History Month

2022 Black TikTok Trailblazers

The 2022 Black TikTok Trailblazers are a group of talented creators nominated by the TikTok community for their creativity, passion, and authenticity. They will share their stories and join in celebrating #BlackTikTok. The creators include:

  • DeMarcus Shawn: known for his relatable comedy
  • Masani Musa: runs Culture Unfiltered, a hub for music discovery and dialogue
  • Emmanuel Duverneau: combines love for dancing and cooking
  • Grace Amaku: a comedian and nurse with relatable comedy and an educational flair
  • Mya Pol: a disabled creator spreading joy and empowerment through dance
  • Keara Wilson: a dancer and choreographer creating popular dance videos
  • MegaGoneFree: a Black LGBTQ+ artist spreading love and empathy through music
  • Samba Diop: an artist and filmmaker telling powerful stories through videos
  • Kay Akpan: an entrepreneur and travel enthusiast sharing content on finance, parenting, and lifestyle
  • Robert Lucas: an IT professional and self-taught cake artist
  • Tony Weaver, Jr.: an award-winning storyteller and anime lover
  • Akintoye Asalu: a hip-hop artist known for unique lyrics and rap videos

Support Black Businesses

TikTok supports Black-owned businesses through the Support Black Businesses program. This program provides training, mentorship, and a support network for Black entrepreneurs. Some of the entrepreneurs highlighted include Montre Moore, Sahr Brima, Kadisha Phillips, Kerry Harris, and Dae Palmer, who have found success and community on TikTok.

#BlackTikTok Community

The #BlackTikTok community continues to grow, with hashtags like #BlackMusic and #SupportBlack gaining popularity. In the United States alone, #BlackTikTok has been viewed over 2.9 billion times, demonstrating the impact of Black creators. TikTok celebrates Black music and musicians, featuring special guest playlists and highlighting artists across genres.

Join the Celebration

To join the celebration, TikTok has created new creative stickers for #BlackTikTok. There are also themed LIVEs and programming throughout the month, including a partnership with iHeartRadio for iHeart Living Black!, a TikTok LIVE event featuring performances from Lizzo, Big Sean, H.E.R., Lil Durk, Moneybagg Yo, and Ari Lennox.
