Celebrating Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month on TikTok

TikTok is excited to celebrate Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by recognizing the rich history and achievements of Asian and Pacific Islander (API) people. Throughout May and beyond, TikTok is honoring the impact and resilience of our API community.

They are spotlighting this year’s API TikTok Trailblazers, who are creators shaping entertainment, culture, content, and trends on and off TikTok. These Trailblazers were nominated by the TikTok community for using their platform to educate, entertain, and advocate for the API community.

Meet the 2022 API TikTok Trailblazers:

  • Ashley Yi: A proud Korean American who shares words of wisdom and tasty meals.
  • David Ma: A commercial director and filmmaker who takes people behind the scenes and shares his creative process.
  • Dr. Shah: A practicing Dermatologist who empowers people to make informed decisions about their skin health.
  • Drew Afualo: Empowering marginalized groups to stand up against misogyny and bigotry.
  • Dynah Tuia'ana: Sharing Pacific Islander culture, smiles, and laughs through dance and positive content.
  • Erika Kullberg: An attorney and personal finance expert empowering others with financial knowledge.
  • Soy Nguyen: Exploring the intersectionality between food, culture, and mental health.
  • The Jikaria Sisters: Blending their South Asian and American identities through dance, music, fashion, and social causes.
  • Just The Nobodys: A podcast promoting Asian representation and inclusive content.
  • Hina: Bringing light to lesbian culture and the intersections of their identities.
  • Kukombo: Taking the audience on unexpected adventures through cinematic cosplay.
  • Vivian Xue: A nail artist sharing creative nail art and behind the scenes clips.

Throughout May, TikTok will host themed LIVEs and in-app programming featuring these Trailblazers and other API creators, singers, non-profit organizations, and entertainers. They will also spotlight API-owned small businesses that have leveraged TikTok to share their stories and reach new customers. Additionally, TikTok's employee resource group, ARISE, will celebrate API Heritage Month with a speaker event series to elevate the voices of API employees and shed light on the API experience.

Join us in recognizing the unity, power, and creativity of API music artists through our special lineup of in-app programming and API music playlists. Let's celebrate the impact and legacy of Asian and Pacific Islander culture alongside our #APIFamily on TikTok.
