Black Music Month x Pride: Hear From TikTok's Black LGBTQ+ Music Creators

LGBTQ+ culture has had a significant impact on the music industry, pushing boundaries in terms of sound, image, and subject matter. TikTok is home to a vibrant community of LGBTQ+ creators and musicians who are unapologetically themselves and are changing the culture. As TikTok, we are honored to witness and celebrate their progress on our platform.

In celebration of Black LGBTQ+ music creators and their contributions to the TikTok community, we are excited to highlight five new artists who are pushing boundaries and setting an example of what it means to be "Free to Be."

DIZZY FAE:

Dizzy Fae is a 22-year-old singer and dancer from St. Paul, MN. Their identity plays a significant role in shaping their artistry, allowing them to be whoever they want when they speak their truth. Pride, to them, is a lifestyle that boosts their confidence and allows them to live authentically. The TikTok community has inspired them to continue being themselves on every platform.

FOUSHEÉ:

Fousheé, a TikTok favorite from New Jersey, is known for her trending songs like "Deep End." Her identity is an essential part of her self-expression, helping people understand who she truly is. Pride, for her, means accepting oneself and proudly standing in one's identity. The TikTok community's diversity and acceptance have inspired her to be comfortable in her own skin.

KIDD KENN:

Kidd Kenn, an 18-year-old rapper from Chicago, is known as "Chicago's next teen sensation." His new EP 'Problem Child' reflects his determination to make a mark in the music industry. He credits TikTok for his success, as the platform's diverse community inspired him to be creative and express himself freely. Releasing his EP during Pride and Black Music Month feels like the perfect celebration of self-expression.

MARZZ:

Marzz, a rising singer-songwriter from Louisville, KY, finds confidence in her unique identity. Pride, to her, means loving oneself and being proud of who you are, despite the hate. The TikTok community's support has allowed her to showcase her differences and build her confidence. She is most proud of her SWV cover, which led to a meeting with Lee Lee from SWV, who has been a source of love and support.

MK xyz:

MK xyz, a rising singer and performer based in Atlanta, embraces the unknown and ever-changing parts of her identity. Pride, for her, is a daily celebration and a time to honor those who paved the way. The TikTok community has inspired people worldwide to be their authentic selves.
