I Tried Dropshipping for 5 Days – Insane Results

Introduction

I've made thousands of dollars dropshipping from both Shopify and Amazon. However, I decided to challenge myself by starting from scratch. With only five days to find a profitable item, I set a budget of $ 500. If I couldn't make the store profitable in that time, I would give the entire store away to one of my viewers. But if I managed even a $ 1 profit, I’d still give the store away. Here's how it all unfolded.

Day 1: Finding the Product

On day one, the main focus was to find a product within a few hours. I aimed to order the item from Amazon to have it in hand by the end of the day for filming ads. I planned to use TikTok for advertising but wanted to take an aggressive approach since I had only five days.

To find the right product, I used a website called Mia. Unlike browsing outdated products on social media, Mia offered a selection of trending items and winning ad creatives from TikTok. I quickly found an intriguing air freshener that ticked all my boxes: great margins, easy to advertise, and it had that all-important cool factor.

Next, I validated my choice using Shop Hunter—a tool that reveals sales data for similar products across various stores. The numbers were promising, indicating that if other stores were successful, I could capture some of that market too. With my product validated, I set to work on creating the store and designing a logo.

The store was a one-product setup, designed to highlight my product immediately. After finishing the store, I proceeded to TikTok Ads Manager to set up my first ad campaign with a $ 50 budget for the first 24 hours. My goal was to warm up the ad account and focus on driving sales.

Day 2: The Sales Start Rolling In

By the end of the first day, I had notifications of sales. I was thrilled to see that we made our first four sales. As we progressed into day three, I reviewed the financials. After accounting for expenses such as Shopify fees, product costs, and domain, we had made $ 25 in sales by the end of the day, with $ 80 spent on ads and a $ 70 cost for the units sold.

Day 3: Continued Momentum

On day three, sales continued to trickle in, and the store's total sales amounted to $ 170. By the end of the day, I added more strategies to maximize revenue and ensure profitability.

Day 4: Almost at the Goal

At the start of day four, I checked our figures, and the total was up to $ 370 in sales. The advertising strategy seemed to be paying off, and I remained hopeful of surpassing previous sales records.

Day 5: Final Push

On the fifth and final day, our previous day’s sales had reached $ 376 with about $ 80 in profit. The goal was to reach at least $ 1,000 for the total sales. By the day's end, I reported $ 964 in sales with a total of 25 orders. Despite missing the $ 1,000 mark, it was a strong performance given the timeframe.

Conclusion

In just five days, we successfully turned a $ 500 investment into $ 964 in sales, totaling around $ 180 in profit. This growth was remarkable for such a short period, and one lucky viewer would win the store as promised!
