Beginner Tries Tiktok Dropshipping Pt.3
Introduction
Introduction
After 11 long months of trial and error, I finally made my first $ 1,000 in profits—not just revenue or sales, but actual profit. Here's exactly how I did it.
The Journey Begins
In my last video, I managed to make a product go viral on TikTok with over 15 million views. However, I only made $ 400 in profits, which was quite disappointing since people usually make $ 5,000 to $ 20,000+ from such high view counts. So, I decided to find a better product.
Discovering the Right Product
One day, I stumbled upon an interesting 2D backpack while scrolling through my Banner account. It was unique, and no other account was running this product. I felt confident that I could make it go viral, so I ordered it immediately from Amazon.
While waiting for the backpack to arrive, I decided to give another product a shot—a magnetic fidget pen. I had tried to make this pen go viral eight months ago but failed due to my lack of knowledge.
TikTok Account Setup
To redo the experiment with the pen, I made a US TikTok account using the VPN and SIM card method mentioned in my last video. For those struggling to make a US TikTok account, you can either:
- Join a Discord that offers a VPN and SIM card method.
- Order a SIM card from Amazon, insert it into your phone (no need to activate it), and then download TikTok.
Making Content
I posted two TikToks daily for about eight days and managed to reach 1,000 followers—the number you need to add a website link to your profile. To film my TikToks, I used my lights, mouse pad as a background, and shot with my phone camera. I then edited in TikTok, cutting clips into segments lasting 0.5 to 2 seconds for a fast-paced video.
Building the Website
After hitting 1,000 followers, I created a Shopify website using a PageFly template called Tech One. I then showed it to my mentors, Michael Bernstein and Jacob, for optimization tips. Michael suggested ways to improve the product page for a higher average order value, and Jacob advised me to replicate other viral videos.
Initial Results
Two days later, one of my videos got over 10K views, and I made my first sale. I then began filming content for the 2D backpack. Over the next week, I posted twice daily for both products. Although views were mediocre, I managed to get a few sales, especially from the pen product.
Viral Success and Setback
Scrolling through the Collective Discord, I found a funny, viral TikTok and tried to replicate it. My video also went viral with over 300,000 views, but I got zero sales despite 1,200 visitors to my website. A similar video for the pen went viral with over 1.6 million views but was taken down for violating TikTok's guidelines. However, it did result in sales.
Biggest Breakthrough
Finally, I made a TikTok for the pen, adding a call to action at the end. This video garnered almost 300,000 views on YouTube Shorts and brought in $ 400 in sales, providing a better view-to-sales ratio. Eventually, I reached over $ 2,000 in sales, making $ 1,000 in actual profits.
Conclusion
Although it took nine long months, I finally achieved my goal. Moving forward, my plan is to test multiple products simultaneously to find a true winner.
