7 Day Dropshipping Challenge ($0-$10,000)

Introduction

In this article, I’ll take you through my thrilling journey of attempting to scale a TikTok dropshipping store from a mere $ 265 in revenue to an ambitious goal of $ 10,000 within just seven days.

Day 1: Kicking off the Challenge

I recently tested two products on my TikTok dropshipping store: a red light hairbrush, which ended up losing $ 50, and a blackhead water vacuum, which surprisingly generated $ 108 in net profit. As of day one, we started with $ 265 in daily revenue and aimed to scale up by focusing solely on the blackhead water vacuum.

Let's quickly revisit the core offering of this product: it effectively sucks away pimples and uses water to keep the skin hydrated. Not only did it perform well previously as a winning product back in 2021, but I also noticed a lack of competition recently.

As I headed into the TikTok Ads Manager, I had an initial campaign running. After a spend of $ 100 on ads, we achieved five orders totaling $ 265 in revenue. With $ 77 in fulfillment costs, this left us with a net profit of $ 88 for the day. To reach our target of $ 10,000, I decided to increase our ad spend to $ 250 for the next day.

Day 2: Momentum Builds

The next day, our strategy was to increase the budget, and with a $ 250 ad spend, we generated $ 752 in revenue from 14 orders. Digging into the ad metrics, we learned that our cost per sale was roughly $ 17, while our average product price was $ 44.95 with a cost of goods at $ 15. This meant our break-even point was $ 30, indicating a solid profit margin.

After accounting for total expenses, my net profit for day two amounted to $ 284. To build on this, we implemented an upselling strategy using the AfterSell app on Shopify to boost revenue from previous buyers. This included offering discounts to customers right after they made a purchase.

Day 3: Continuing to Scale

Moving on to day three, our total revenue pushed $ 1,577, thanks to a spend of $ 500 on ads. We managed to achieve 28 orders, and our profits crossed $ 620. The profits showcased how effective one solid campaign can be. Staying focused on performance metrics, we maintained a click-through rate above 1%—an essential standard in the world of digital advertising.

The upsells from earlier also started to generate additional revenue, adding $ 149, $ 29, and $ 58 to our overall gross profit that day.

Day 4: Hitting New Heights

As I set a budget of $ 1,000 for day four, the revenue skyrocketed up to $ 3,134. With this expenditure, we collected 54 orders. Tracking the performance was key here, affirming that my strategy of keeping one campaign active was paying off, as it allowed us to reach further and maximize our ad budget effectively.

Day 5: Staying On Course

The focus on the winning product showed continuous returns. Even as we pushed through to hit another $ 1,000 spend on ads, revenue kept climbing.

Day 6: Almost There

Entering day six, we broke through the $ 10,000 mark in total revenue. With 34 orders bringing in $ 1,891 that day, our efforts in advertising continued to show fruitful returns.

Day 7: Conclusion and Reflection

Finally, on day seven, I managed to reflect on the entire journey—having generated over $ 10,000 in total revenue within six days instead of seven. Ultimately, all the hard work resulted in a total profit of $ 3,864 across the week, marking an impressive 36% profit margin, far above my average.

This challenge solidified the belief that with the right approach, even a dropshipping business can flourish.
