24 Hour Dropshipping Challenge (Realistic Results)

In this article, I document my 24-hour dropshipping challenge where my goal was to start a profitable business with a budget of just $ 100. The challenge included finding a product, building a store, creating an offer, and launching a paid ads campaign on TikTok—all within a day. Here’s how I approached each step and the results I achieved.

Hour 1: Product Research

With my alarm set for early morning, I started my quest for products. I aimed to find something that solved a problem, had a wow factor, was relatively inexpensive, and appealed to a broad audience.

I browsed TikTok using hashtags like #TikTokMadeMeBuyIt, #AmazonMustHaves, and #TikTokShop, collecting ideas for trending products. I also utilized software like AutoDS to identify winning options. While exploring the Marketplace feature of AutoDS, I found a compelling product: a portable duffel bag that caters to frequent travelers and solves the common issue of costly check-in fees at airports.

I located this product on AliExpress for $ 33 but managed to contact a supplier directly and acquired it for $ 24, complete with free 7-9 day shipping to the U.S.

Store Creation

Now that I had found my product—a versatile duffel bag—I needed to tackle a few more essentials. This included designing a logo, which I kept simple using the League Spartan font, and selecting a brand name. I registered my domain as MyDuffelBag.com.

Next, I crafted an interactive add-on for my TikTok ads featuring a 30% discount on the duffel bag. This pop-up advertisement would help increase the click-through rate (CTR) by capturing attention just a few seconds into the ad.

Building the Website

After a couple of hours, the website was ready. I named the product My Duffel Bag and priced it at $ 69.99—almost a threefold markup on my cost. I focused on clear, engaging copy and highlighted the bag's features, accompanied by images, product reviews, and FAQs, ensuring the site remained straightforward.

Launching TikTok Ads

With the website finalized, it was time to set up the TikTok ads. I followed these steps:

  1. Created a campaign for website conversions.
  2. Named the campaign, activated Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO), and set the budget to $ 50.
  3. Selected the relevant pixel connected to my Shopify store, optimizing for complete payments.
  4. Adjusted placements to exclude search results and app placements and made sure user comments were turned off to prevent negativity.
  5. Targeted individuals aged 18 and above across all genders.

Next, I uploaded five video creatives and positioned a strong call to action: “Get 30% Off Ends Tonight.” With everything in place, I created an interactive add-on showcasing the discount for five seconds.

Initial Sales

After setting everything up, I awaited the results. Miraculously, my phone pinged with a sale notification while I was shopping at the mall! By this time, we had spent only $ 10 on ads and earned $ 50 in profit. However, TikTok's ad spend stagnated, leading me to pause the campaign and schedule a new one for the next morning.

After a full day, I reviewed the challenge results:
