So if you're here to learn TikTok ads, you're in the right place. Keep watching!

Weekly Mastermind

Before we get started, I want to mention that I have a weekly mastermind where we discuss Facebook ads, TikTok ads, product searching, and everything you need to know about having a successful e-commerce business. If you're interested in joining, make sure to DM me on Instagram @nazmastermind.

Why TikTok Ads?

If you've tried Facebook ads, you know they're kind of difficult for newcomers. TikTok ads, however, are much more forgiving, and they feel much more engaging and less like work. TikTok is now as popular as Instagram, boasting around one billion monthly active users with even higher engagement rates.

Setting Up Your TikTok Ad Campaign

TikTok ads consist of three sections:

  1. Campaign
  2. Ad Groups
  3. Ads

Let’s dive into how to set this up:

  1. Campaign: This involves setting your campaign objective (e.g., Complete Payment).
  2. Ad Groups: Define your placement, creative type, target audience, budget, schedule, and bidding methods.
  3. Ads: This refers to the actual videos or images that users will see. I prefer to test campaigns with 4-10 Ad Groups and each Ad Group having 3-4 creatives but recently switched to 2 creatives per Ad Group for better spending balance.

Creatives: The Heart of Your Campaign

Great creatives are crucial for TikTok ads. Make sure your videos are engaging, high-resolution, colorful, well-lit, and showcase real people using the product. Maintain concise ad copy that clearly conveys your message. Here are the recommended dimensions for your media:

  • Video Resolution: ~1080x1920
  • Aspect Ratio: 9:16, 1:1, or 16:9

Finding Winning Products

I recommend using PP Ads to find products. I don’t just rely on the most popular products but look for under-the-radar items. It’s also useful to inspect stores and see what new items they are adding using tools like Commerce Inspector.

Scaling and Bidding

For scaling:

  1. Start with automatic targeting.
  2. Use Cost Cap bidding (starting around $ 10).
  3. Try Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO) for higher budgets after identifying a winning product.
  4. Ensure you test your new products with different creatives and continue to tweak to increase returns.

Example Campaign Setup

  1. Go to ads.tiktok.com and create a new campaign.
  2. Select 'Conversion' as the campaign objective.
  3. Create a pixel manually to track performance.
  4. Set placements, select automatic targeting and define your location and budget.
  5. Set detailed targeting if necessary. (Example: US and Canada, $ 20 budget)
  6. Use lowest cost for warm-up; you can switch to manual bidding later.
  7. Create your ad, upload creatives, and put your link.
