The Rise of Bangladeshi Startup Ecosystem ? #reels #shorts #tiktok #startup

In 2014, the term "startup" was not well-regarded or even widely understood in Bangladesh. Interestingly, even today, there isn't a universally accepted word for "startup" in Bangla. Despite attempts, the closest we still have is the English word itself: "startup."

At that time, startups were not considered "good marriage material." Since I began teaching, I've routinely asked my students about their career aspirations using Mentimeter, an interactive presentation tool. The options typically included multinational companies and banks—entities I refer to as "marriage material" because they were seen as stable and desirable career choices.

However, this perception has shifted dramatically. The entire startup ecosystem has evolved, bringing collective benefits to all stakeholders involved. Nowadays, pursuing a career in a startup is respected as a legitimate career choice. While startups can certainly be less stable than traditional careers, they offer unique perks and valuable exposure that can be immensely beneficial.

A career in a startup often serves as a stepping stone. It may be the beginning of a journey that eventually leads to founding one's own venture. The instability is outweighed by the long-term benefits and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
