My Cozy IPAD ARTIST Desk Setup for 2025 ✦ iPad Accessories, Apps and Filming Gear

Introduction

Happy holiday season, everyone! As we wrap up the year, I’d like to share my preferred iPad workspace that I’ve curated over the years as a full-time digital artist and content creator. In this article, I’ll delve into my favorite iPad accessories, how I configure my iPad for a desktop experience, my filming gear, and a brief overview of the applications I use daily for commissions and my digital shop. I hope this glimpse into my art space inspires you to create your own cozy creative area as we head into the new year.

My Standing Desk

The heart of my setup is my standing desk, purchased in 2022. This has markedly improved my physical health while allowing me to draw for extended periods.

The iPad Pro

For my work, I utilize the 12.9-inch M1 iPad Pro (2021 model), equipped with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.

Favorite Accessories

iPad Stand

One of my favorite accessories is my lightweight and compact iPad board stand, which makes long drawing sessions enjoyable. The folding legs fit perfectly within my Ikea drawer, and it offers multiple angles for comfortable drawing positions. The dual pen slots accommodate my Apple Pencil, even with its silicone case.

Cooling Fan

As my iPad heats up during use, I’ve attached a mobile cooling fan to the hollow back of my iPad stand, allowing me to keep working even while it's charging.

Apple Pencil

I prefer using a silicone case for my Apple Pencil, which strikes a balance between thickness and grip, preventing it from slipping off surfaces easily.

Game Pads

I also love using 8bit dough game pads, specifically the 8bit dough micro, which is compatible with both Apple and Android devices. They enhance my workflow by providing shortcut keys that make editing and drawing much more efficient.

Magic Trackpad

My magic trackpad is a significant investment, and I was lucky to find it secondhand. This accessory seamlessly integrates with my iPad workflow, especially for video editing.

Mechanical Keyboard

Though I have just one mechanical keyboard, I love its unique design and color variations.

Setting Up iPad Desktop Experience

To use the iPad in a desktop-like setup, I rely on the Stage Manager feature exclusive to M-series iPads, utilizing a USB-C to HDMI adapter, preferably Apple's multi-AV adapter. This feature presents an interface similar to MacBook OS, allowing me to multitask effectively.

Learning with Skillshare

I often take classes on Skillshare to enhance my skills, focusing on character design, fashion illustration, and various art techniques. Skillshare offers numerous classes designed for every skill level, which can elevate your knowledge and proficiency.

Content Creation Gear

For filming, I primarily use my iPhone, as its camera quality allows for long shoot times without concern. In addition, I’ve invested in the Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo for more stable filming. My setup includes phone holders and a sturdy tripod for capturing different angles. I also utilize wireless microphones for clear audio in my content.

Apps and Software

  • Art Apps: My primary drawing app is Procreate, along with alternatives like Fresco and Ibis Paint. For animation, I utilize Procreate Dreams and Calip, and I’ve recently begun experimenting with Nomad Sculpt for 3D art.
  • File Management and Project Tracking: SCVA helps manage graphics for my digital shop, while Notion keeps track of my commission details.
  • Video Editing: I edit all my videos using Vllo and CapCut, both tailored for ease of use and efficiency.

The Final Touches

As I wrap up this overview, my workspace is filled with fun accessories and practical tools, enhancing my creative flow. My desk offers a cozy atmosphere, manipulated by RGB lighting which is perfect for an evening setup.

When working outside of my home, I pack all necessary cables, my gamepad, a portable keyboard, and my iPad in a reliable bag.

Thank you for joining me on this tour of my workspace! I hope you found it inspiring for your own creative endeavors. Wishing you all a joyful holiday season, and I look forward to sharing more in the upcoming year!
