I MADE A NEW SECRET EDITING ACCOUNT

Introduction

After uploading edits to TikTok for quite some time, I've accumulated a decent following. However, I've forgotten what it feels like to start from scratch—zero followers and no recognition. As a result, I've decided to create a brand new TikTok account with zero followers or likes, keeping this adventure undercover until I reveal the results in a video after completing the project.

The Setup

I created a fresh account named "Skywalker"—an admittedly generic name. Since I'm focusing on Star Wars edits, I followed a few Star Wars editors and scrolled through my For You page to avoid being flagged as a bot. The first task was to change my profile picture; I opted for an image of Anakin Skywalker to make the account look more appealing.

Next, I worked on my bio, stating that I edit using After Effects and that my edits are fan-made. I also added a USA flag emoji to give it a personal touch.

First Upload

I prepared my first edit, which featured Anakin Skywalker and General Grievous. I captioned it “My First Edit” and used generic hashtags like #ForYou, #StarWars, #Anakin, and #AfterEffects to boost visibility. After posting, I followed some more accounts to increase my chances of gaining views.

Almost immediately, the performance of my post surprised me. Within just a couple of minutes, I had 40 views and three likes. A few minutes later, I saw the numbers climb to 100 views and 23 likes. I even gained a follower, which was exciting. Early engagement is essential for new accounts, so I made sure to interact with my followers, replying to comments and showing appreciation for their support.

Progress Check

The next day, I was eager to log in and see how my account had fared. To my delight, I had accrued 1,110 views and 188 likes on my first edit. There were also five comments, which I quickly liked and responded to.

For my next edit, I tried a slightly different style. I opted for the caption “Best Character” along with relevant hashtags. Selecting an eye-catching cover was crucial to enhancing my visibility.

While my new video uploaded, I continued to scroll through the For You page, interacting with other users. A flurry of notifications followed, with new likes and followers coming in, contributing to a growing engagement rate.

A Shift in Strategy

After a few days, I noticed that growth had slowed. I decided to switch up my strategy and added a sound effect at the end of my new edit to spark debate and encourage interaction.

Despite my efforts, my next video was muted, which significantly affected its reach. In total, I ended up with 58 followers and 42 likes over several days of posting and engaging with the community.

Conclusion

It’s clear that growing on TikTok isn’t as easy as it initially appears. Though I made decent progress in a short time, it required consistent effort and a little bit of luck. If I continued for another week or two, I might have seen even better results, but that’s a journey for another time. Thank you for following along, and if you want to learn more about editing, be sure to check out my other videos!
