I GAINED 15K FOLLOWERS ON TIKTOK IN 30 DAYS | 30 day TikTok challenge in 2022 and this happened...
Introduction
For the past 30 days, I have been posting to TikTok to see what would happen. Actually, this hasn't happened yet, but by the time you're watching this video, it has happened. So, we're going to find out the results in this article. I don't know the results, but you're about to find out. Basically, for me, I feel like I have dominated Instagram and YouTube, and TikTok is the place to be. Everybody says it, we all know it, and not all of us are there because we're intimidated. At least I am.
The Start
I felt like if I posted a video to TikTok and it went viral, everybody would hate me due to the hate comments. I was scared, but I knew it was so important to be on that platform, and it's something that I wanted to teach all of you and my students how to utilize because, let's face it, it works. There's a reason everybody says to get on it. So, what I did was a 30-day challenge where I posted to TikTok for 30 days straight to see what I could do, and we're just going to see what happens and what I learn. I will keep you posted along the way.
Setting Up the Content Calendar
First things first, let's set up the content calendar. I want to say a huge thank you to this video sponsor, CapCut. I literally wouldn't have been able to make all of these videos without CapCut. It's a free video editing app available for both iPhone and Android users. It's what I use to edit my reels and TikToks. The reason that I love this platform is because it's the only one I've found without watermarks, and it's free. On top of that, it integrates directly with TikTok, making the process seamless.
The Plan
I am planning out all of my content using Notion. My goal is to post one TikTok video every single day. This is my general posting schedule. Down at the bottom are content ideas or brain dumps. As of the beginning of this challenge, I had 1,100 followers. I've been posting for about a week now, and my growth is slow. We're at about 1,290 followers now. I’m thinking I need to step up how often I'm posting. Initially, my strategy was to post once a day, but I'm considering doubling up to twice a day.
Midway Through the Challenge
We are at the halfway point of my TikTok Challenge. We’re now at about 2,600 followers. I realized that I shouldn't teach Instagram tips on TikTok because many people on TikTok have left Instagram. This is fine because it allows me to focus on other aspects like brand collaborations and influencer tips. Moving forward, I’d like to post twice a day. I also want to reply to a comment from a previous video every day by creating a video response, which helps engage my audience.
Facing Criticism
I posted a video talking about how much I charge per post as an influencer, and it started performing well but also attracted some criticism. Instead of replying to every hate comment, I decided to reply to the more constructive comments with instructional videos. This strategy seemed helpful as it resulted in growth, even if it brought a mix of supportive and negative feedback.
Conclusion
TikTok has proven to be a great platform. I started with 1,100 followers and ended with around 15,000. I learned that TikTok allows you to Rebrand and reach new audiences. The platform is forgiving of more casual, on-the-go content creation. Unlike Instagram's meticulous algorithms, TikTok's algorithm pushes your content to a broader audience, bringing both right users and critics. Despite this, the most valuable aspect of TikTok is its ability to allow more personalized and varied content.
