Understanding Snapchat Pixel

As you see, I’m on my laptop screen now. In the previous video, we completed all the necessary verifications and setups, and today we’ll dive into the main topic: Snapchat Pixel.

So what is a Pixel? It’s a powerful tool that helps track user activity by monitoring what actions your customers take on your website. It records details like where customers are clicking, where they are going, and their overall behavior on your site.

The Benefits of Using a Pixel

The main benefit of creating a Pixel is that it allows you to connect it to your online store or website. As data accumulates, the Pixel becomes increasingly efficient and helps generate more orders with a smaller budget, making your marketing efforts significantly more cost-effective. Think of it like the auntie in your neighborhood who knows everything about everyone—she’s always watching and noting where everyone is going. Similarly, a Pixel tracks and gathers important data on your site traffic.

Now that we’ve got the basics down, let’s create a Pixel together on my laptop screen!

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Snapchat Pixel

  1. Access Your Business Dashboard

    • Navigate to your Snapchat business dashboard. Click on the 'Business' option in the top left corner, then select 'Business Dashboard.'
  2. Create a Pixel

    • On the bottom left side of the dashboard, look for the option to create a Pixel. Alternatively, under 'Assets,' you can click on 'Events Manager' and proceed to create a Pixel from there as well.
  3. Configure Your Pixel

    • In the Events Manager, click on 'New Event Source.' A prompt will appear asking whether you're creating for a website (web), app, or offline event. Select 'Web' since we are creating a Pixel for a website.
  4. Naming Your Pixel

    • You will be prompted to name your Pixel. You can choose any name relevant to your store or website. Click on 'Confirm' after naming.
  5. Website URL

    • Enter the URL of your website. This step is optional; you can skip it if needed. Still, it can provide important context for your Pixel.
  6. Event Setup Method

    • You’ll see three options for setting up your events: partner integration, Pixel setup tools, and manual setup. I recommend going with 'Manual Setup' to have total control over where to place the Pixel code.
  7. Select Funnel Events

    • A dropdown will appear allowing you to select events. Choose the first option for E-commerce and Retail and tick the relevant events: 'Purchase,' 'Start Checkout,' and 'Add to Cart.' After selecting these, click 'Next.'
  8. Copy Base Code

    • You will receive the Pixel code. Copy it and navigate to your store or website code section. Open your theme coding, with a focus on the header section, and paste the code above the header tag.
  9. Finish Setup

    • Once you’ve pasted the code, simply click 'Finish.' Your Pixel has now been successfully created!
  10. Verify Pixel Using Chrome Extension

    • Download the Pixel Helper extension on Chrome. This extension will help you check whether your Pixel code is correctly implemented. After installation, click on the extension to see if it detects your Pixel.
  11. Run Some Test Events

    • To verify that events are being tracked, navigate around your website and perform some actions like adding an item to your cart. After some time, refresh the page, and the events should start showing.

Conclusion

This marks the end of our tutorial on creating a Snapchat Pixel and setting up events. In the next video, we'll dive into running ads—stay tuned!
