Google Pixel 9 Pro XL Ringke Onyx Case

Introduction

Welcome back to the channel! Today, we’re going to take a closer look at the Ringke Onyx case designed specifically for the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. I have previously tested Ringke cases on other devices, and I’m excited to see how this variant performs. Let’s dive right in!

Unboxing and First Impressions

The packaging for the Ringke Onyx case is straightforward, featuring a simple plastic pouch that you can easily rip open. Upon unboxing, you’ll find the case itself, which aligns with the minimalist aesthetic that I personally appreciate. I’m not a fan of cases adorned with excessive designs or textures, so this simple black case appeals to my taste.

Taking a look inside the case, we can see that it includes MagSafe-compatible magnets—an essential feature for me, as a user of various MagSafe accessories. This means I can easily utilize my MagSafe car mount, wireless charger, and power banks without any hassle.

Fit and Design

Placing the Pixel 9 Pro XL into the case is straightforward. The design ensures a snug fit without lifting my third-party screen protector, which is a plus.

Exterior and Protection

The Onyx case boasts a sleek matte finish, reminiscent of a volcanic texture; it feels smooth yet offers some grip. The rear has a significant lip to protect the camera lenses, which is vital for Pixel devices known for their impressive photography capabilities.

The case also features a lip covering the flash and temperature sensor—both of which are useful, even if I hardly use the temperature sensor.

On the right side, you'll find the power button and the volume rocker, complemented by minimal branding. The left side has two holes for a lanyard attachment.

The texture of the side rails enhances grip, making it more comfortable to hold. Furthermore, the top holds a cutout for the microphone, while the bottom accommodates the USB-C charging port, microphone, and speaker cutouts.

The case edges offer a height advantage, providing added protection for the screen while maintaining comfort during use.

Button Feedback and MagSafe Testing

The buttons on the case have a nice click feel to them; however, I found the power button to require a bit more pressure than I would prefer. The volume rocker felt even harder to press, which might take some getting used to, especially in a pocket.

Now, for a MagSafe test. I placed a MagSafe power bank onto the case. The magnets felt robust, holding the power bank firmly in place during a shake test, which is reassuring. Having strong magnets is crucial to avoid mishaps, especially if you’re using accessories like wallets or battery packs.

While I wasn't able to test wireless charging due to the power bank being uncharged, I’m confident Ringke has ensured compatibility.

Conclusion

Overall, the Ringke Onyx case offers a sleek and simple design, with the added benefits of MagSafe functionality and solid protection. If you're looking for a minimalist case that still packs a punch in terms of protection and usability, the Ringke Onyx is a strong contender for the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL.
