What is wedding appropriate!?

What is wedding appropriate?!?

Attending a wedding can be both exciting and stressful, especially when it comes to choosing the right dress. With only one previous wedding under my belt, I am not an expert on what is considered appropriate attire. I recently ordered a few dresses from ASOS, all under $ 200, and decided to try them on for an upcoming wedding. Here are my thoughts on each dress:

Option One

I felt an immediate connection with this dress. It feels like the perfect representation of my style. However, I’m unsure whether it's suitable for a wedding. Is it a faux pas to wear something so closely aligned with my personality?

Option Two

This dress has a more demure aesthetic, which immediately drew me to it. The back design is particularly captivating and one of the reasons I chose this dress. It provides a sense of classic elegance without being over the top.

Option Three

This dress struck a nostalgic chord with me, as it reminded me of a dress I had when I was five years old. Although I would need to make some adjustments, particularly to the back, its overall charm and vintage vibe are appealing.

Option Four

Dubbed the subtle baby sister of option three, this piece would make a lovely bridesmaid dress. However, it's the least reflective of my personal style. It’s pretty but doesn’t feel as authentic to who I am.

Option Five

This last dress made me feel like I should be attending a tea party instead of a wedding. Although it is elegant, options one and three still weigh on my mind as stronger contenders.

Ultimately, options one and three remain my top picks. With only minimal wedding experience, I would appreciate your insights. You likely attend more weddings than I do and could provide a clearer perspective.

FAQ

Q: What are important considerations when choosing a dress for a wedding? A: Consider the wedding’s dress code, venue, season, and your own comfort. It's essential to balance personal style with appropriateness.

Q: Is it acceptable to wear a dress that feels more casual, like option five? A: It depends on the wedding's dress code and formality. If the wedding is semi-casual or has a tea party theme, it could work. Otherwise, a more formal dress might be better suited.

Q: How do I decide which dress is the most appropriate? A: Take into account the wedding’s setting, the couple’s style, and your own comfort. Consulting friends or other wedding-goers for their opinions could also be helpful.

Q: Are there any dresses that are definite no-nos for weddings? A: Avoid wearing white or anything too flashy that might overshadow the bride. Steer clear of very casual attire unless specified, and be mindful of the cultural and venue-specific dress codes.
