VLOG| finally reading again! thoughts on the Tik Tok ban, movie date night & mini PR haul

Introduction

Hello, everyone! It's been a while since I sat down for a relaxed reading session, but I finally returned to my favorite pastime amidst my busy schedule. With regular classes on hold until late January and just one winter course, I've managed to find pockets of time where I can indulge in reading again.

Cozy Snow Days and Reading Updates

Yesterday was the perfect snow day. I could enjoy the view from my window without needing to step outside into the blustery cold. It was a great chance to start reading again, although I’m still working through The Final Offer by Lauren Asher. It's a hefty 600-page romance novel, and I've been making my way through it for a couple of months now. I’m roughly 150 pages in, and while I'm enjoying it, I can't help but question the need for such a long narrative.

To mix things up, I’ve been itching to dive back into the Windy City series, specifically The Right Move, which is currently my favorite romance book. I'm a little behind on both series, but in winter mode, I'm attempting to catch up.

A Little Night In

So, last night, I also planned a cozy movie night, inspired by my vision board, where I decided to watch a rom-com. I initially thought about 10 Things I Hate About You, but I ended up choosing He's Just Not That Into You, partially because I’d heard good things about it.

Ordering dinner from Forma Pasta Factory, I treated myself to their delicious creamy pasta dishes while settling in for my movie. The atmosphere was warm and inviting—just the kind of comfort I was looking for during the cold weather outside.

Thoughts on the Tik Tok Ban

However, it was hard to ignore the news about TikTok leaving America. It feels almost as if the government is making a move against a platform that has facilitated connection and learning among users. Despite its addictive nature, TikTok has been an incredible source of information, creativity, and even social awareness.

The experience has drawn parallels to larger systemic issues in society and our relationship with information and government oversight. It poses critical questions about access to information and the implications of censorship for a democratic society. As TikTok departs, I can't help but wonder where to turn next for community and learning.

Mini PR Haul

Let's wrap this up by sharing my latest PR haul! I received some products from Lush and Tula Skincare. From Lush, a Sticky Dates shower gel entered my collection, adding an inviting scent to my bathing routine. On the skincare front, Tula sent over several nourishing items, including a hydrating day cream, an overnight treatment, and an eye balm perfect for these chilly winter days.

Closing Thoughts

I truly enjoyed reconnecting with my personal time to read, watch movies, and reflect on current events—all while treating myself during this cozy season. Be sure to check in soon for more updates and sharing of my thoughts!
