VENDOR POV: Selling Pokémon Cards at an Anime Convention
Introduction
Today was an exciting day as I set up my booth at a local anime convention, joining the vibrant atmosphere and the enthusiastic crowd. I had signed up for this event quite last minute, and due to the timing, I ended up bringing my own table to set up outside in the lobby. This unexpected location allowed for some extra space and better foot traffic from attendees entering the venue.
As the day unfolded, I showcased a diverse array of items. Although Pokémon cards were my main focus, I also displayed One Piece cards, various sealed products, loose booster packs, posters, and pins. This variety aimed to attract collectors of all interests, especially since this event was not solely dedicated to card games.
The Experience
Throughout the day, I engaged with many fellow enthusiasts. Some attendees were keen on starting their One Piece collections, while others were seasoned Pokémon collectors. As I conversed with them, I highlighted items from my collection, including some rare finds and lower-priced cards.
Sales were brisk, with several highlight transactions, such as the sale of evolving skies packs and not one but two Charizard EX cards. One individual even bought a pack simply to see what he might pull, which is always an exciting part of vending at these events.
The interaction with customers was definitely a highlight, as many expressed interest in my YouTube channel. Collaborating with other fans helped create a very dynamic experience. Their enthusiasm for my products made me feel connected and validated my efforts.
As the day progressed, several competitive collectors brought their binders over, and I ventured into the world of trades. I traded my Mega Charizard from XY Evolutions for a Charmeleon from Hidden Fates, along with a bit of cash and some additional packs. It’s always interesting to see what others value—and what they're willing to give up for what I have.
In reflection, the event exceeded my expectations, both in terms of sales and community connection. I truly appreciate everyone who stopped by my booth, and I hope to continue sharing more vendor experiences in the future.
Remember, no matter what you might be going through, you are not alone. We are here alongside you, enjoying these collecting adventures together!
