So... TikTok Shop is Going Better Than I Expected! — How I Made $600 in ONE Week from ONE Video

Introduction

I wanted to share an exciting update regarding my ongoing TikTok Shop experiment. After posting several videos focused on promoting products, I experienced only a few sporadic sales initially. Despite my skepticism toward TikTok Shop, I was putting most of my affiliate marketing efforts into the Amazon Influencer Program, which had been effective for me.

However, a pivotal moment came when one of my TikTok Shop videos started to gain traction. At first, I recorded just a casual video discussing a product—barely thinking it would lead anywhere. To my surprise, this video has since fostered significant momentum, currently boasting 93.5k views, predominantly thanks to the brand's investment in advertising.

Here's an interesting breakdown of my success over the past week with TikTok Shop:

Key Insights and Observations

This starkly contrasted with my more polished and structured sponsored-style content which seemed to yield fewer results.

  2. Changing My Strategy: Moving forward, I plan to lean into this more casual, authentic style, aligning with what seems to resonate well with viewers. This approach is not only easier for me as a creator but also allows for spontaneity and enjoyment in the process.

  3. The Role of Ad Spend: The majority of the views on my successful post originated from the brand's ad spend. This partnership alleviates the pressure on me as the creator to generate views organically, allowing me to focus more on the content itself while still benefiting financially.

  4. Freedom in Content Creation: Both TikTok Shop and the Amazon Influencer Program provide me with a sense of freedom as a content creator, permitting me to create without the intense pressure of attaining viral fame for each post. This alleviates stress and fosters creativity in my process.

Future Plans

This newfound success has reignited my focus on TikTok Shop. I aim to implement a "barge mentality," a strategy I recommend to new influencers, where the first few videos are about generating data and learning what works. Instead of overthinking each email or produce extensive content, I will focus on creating multiple spontaneous product videos to see if I can replicate this success.
