Should You Join The TikTok Creator Fund (WATCH THIS BEFORE JOINING)

I've been getting hundreds of DMs every single day and so many comments asking me to make a video that tells you everything that you need to know about the TikTok Creator Fund—how to make more money on it, whether or not it's decreasing your views, whether or not you should apply for it, what to do if it's disappeared from your TikTok, and so many different things. That being said, I want to make this article so that I can talk about all of that and so much more, like how to withdraw your funds, how to increase the amount of money you're earning, and so many different aspects, because many people have no idea what they're talking about regarding the TikTok Creator Marketplace. Everyone is sharing their opinions on it, and I don't know where you guys are getting most of this information from, but nine out of ten times, whatever you're saying about it is just not true at all.

There has been a mass exodus leaving it, and I don't know why people are doing that. We'll chat more about that a little bit later. Also, if your CPM is two to three cents, you're doing something totally wrong, and I'm going to tell you exactly what that is and how you can increase it. So make sure you stick around until the end because, as I mentioned, I'm going to share how you can increase the amount of money you’re making from the TikTok Creator Fund because your CPM should be way higher—I'm talking about 10 times higher than it currently is.

Does the TikTok Creator Fund Decrease Your Views?

For starters, know the TikTok Creator Fund is not decreasing the number of views you get. What actually happened is that way more creators are posting now, especially big creators, which means it's more competitive to get on the For You Page. But I’ve seen so many people, especially in my mentorship program and just myself, have a huge skyrocketing of views. The reason is that TikTok is prioritizing better content now. So if you've seen a decrease in views, it’s probably because your watch time is decreasing or you're not following along with what you need to be doing in the October TikTok algorithm update, which I’m going to link out to at the end of this article because I dropped a video on that two days ago.

So trust me, if you have left the TikTok Creator Fund because you think TikTok was decreasing your views or throttling your views, that is total nonsense and absolute baloney. What actually happened is that your watch time decreased, you're not getting as much engagement, and you're not doing as good of a job focusing on the trends. You’re likely focusing on how many views you get and how much money you make, which is not the right focus. You need to be focused on the process, not the results.

Are My TikTok Creator Fund Earnings Missing?

Another DM that I've been getting is, "Hey, TikTok is stealing my money. It says I made a hundred dollars in the Creator Fund or however much money I made, and I can only withdraw 20. Why is that?" The reason is that all social media platforms work like this when doing a payout: they pay you out for the previous month. Essentially, you get your September paycheck at the end of October, for example. That is why your balance may seem lower, but 30 days from now, you'll be able to withdraw the rest of the money, and your paycheck will be larger.

Getting Paid and Withdrawing Money

Originally, TikTok had a huge glitch in the beginning, which happens with everything. Every social media platform always has glitches at the start. They were kind of rushed into actually putting out the TikTok Creator Marketplace because of all the stuff going on with the government and things like that. They wanted to make the platform look better in the eyes of the US government by showing that it helps people create a living. That's why they pushed it out prematurely, and there was an issue with withdrawing your funds, but now that has all been fixed.

If you want to withdraw your funds, this is what you need to do:

  1. Pull up TikTok and click on "Me" in the bottom right-hand corner.
  2. In the top right-hand corner, click those three dots.
  3. Click "Balance" and then click "Income Plus". This will show the amount of money you’re able to withdraw.
  4. Set up your PayPal account, and you’ll be able to withdraw the funds.

That being said, like I mentioned, that's not going to be your full balance. If you want to see your full balance, go back to "Me", click the upper right button, then click on your pro account, then click on "TikTok Creator Fund", and you’ll be able to see your full balance and the full amount of money you make and how much money you make every single day.

Just a reminder: that data is not accurate for about 72 hours. If you had a video go viral yesterday, don't be spam-checking it today and then DMing me saying, "Hey Rob, how come I didn't get paid for this post?" You haven't been credited for the post yet because TikTok wants to see who it reached and whether or not you manipulated it.

Increasing Your Earnings Through CPM

On average, the TikTok Creator Fund pays two to three cents for every thousand views you get, meaning a two to three cents CPM. I have seen a lot of creators successfully bring that up to 40 to 50 cents, and I'll share how to increase it. The only thing they did was age up their content. When TikTok is determining how much money they're going to pay you, besides who is seeing it, what kind of content you made, whether or not you have community guideline violations, etc., the most important factor is actually the audience you’re reaching. If the audience is older, you’re going to be paid more.

Aging Up Your Content to Increase CPM

To age up your content and get it shown to people over the age of 30, you need to follow a few steps. A creator who has done an amazing job at this is @thelennyhunt. We brainstormed ways for him to monetize his TikTok, and he found significant success when he spoke about content that appealed to an older audience. You can tell they are older by looking at the comments. When he did this, his CPM skyrocketed, 10 to 20 times higher.

The TikTok Creator Fund Application Process

To get into the TikTok Creator Fund, you need to have over 10,000 followers, over 10,000 views in the last 30 days, and you need to be over 18 years old. That being said, they are not taking more applications at the moment. So many people have been asking, saying TikTok took away their TikTok Creator Fund or they haven’t gotten into it yet. Applications are likely to open again before the end of the year.

Make sure you meet the criteria and do not have community guidelines violations, as these can prevent acceptance. If you have had violations, it can increase your chance to get in if you stop getting them now. When you apply, make sure you read the community guidelines—it’s just three pages of big text. When a video gets taken down, always appeal it to avoid it acting as a strike against you.

Stitch and Duet Considerations

When you do a stitch or duet and that video gets taken down, your video will be taken down as well. This wasn’t the case months ago, but it is now, so be sure not to do stitches or duets with inappropriate videos.

An Alternative Monetization Platform

Beyond the TikTok Creator Fund, there’s another way to monetize your account. I created a monetization platform where I pay people to duet certain videos and use certain sounds in their posts. The CPM is higher, on average $ 1.25, and there are bi-weekly payouts. There’s no age requirement or minimum follower count, and you get tasks sent straight to your email.

Conclusion

If you want to maximize the income from TikTok without doing brand deals, consider joining both the TikTok Creator Fund and my monetization program. It isn’t decreasing your views, and it’s a way to monetize your content. Even if it just pays for gas or a meal, it’s more money than you'd have otherwise.
