Reasons Why Your Product Bundles are NOT SELLING | Shopify Ecommerce

A couple of years ago, a client advisory was doing pretty well and tried running a campaign directly to a bundle page rather than a single product page. The idea was to bump up the average order value (AOV), but it didn't really work out too well.

The reason I don't think it worked very well for them, and I don't think it generally works well, although it depends on the product we're talking about, is this: customers go on the page, see a huge price tag straight away, and just click off because they're not interested in spending so much in one go. For that reason, I think it's better to send traffic to a single product page where they see the price of that one product above the fold. They think, "Okay, this doesn't cost too much. I can afford this."

Then, later on, you can offer extra upsells or income upsells or post-purchase upsells, increasing that AOV without pushing away customers who wouldn't be interested in the extra products themselves.

FAQ

1. Why didn't the bundle strategy work? Customers felt overwhelmed by the high initial price and clicked off without making a purchase.

2. What is a better alternative to bundle pages? Directing customers to a single product page to avoid overwhelming them with a high price tag and then using upsells to increase AOV.

3. How can I increase my AOV without pushing away customers? Offer upsells either during the purchase process or post-purchase, rather than overwhelming them with a bundle upfront.
