Prompt Engineering Tutorial: Text-to-Video (OpenAI Sora, Pika, Kaiber, invideo AI & More!)

Introduction

If you need to make content but you don't have the time or money, then stick around because I'm going to show you how to use AI to do it for you. I'm also going to show you how you can make a Pixar-quality movie all by yourself, and the best part is that you can create content within minutes. It's actually insane how far AI video generation has come in the past 12 months.

To give you a little taste of what's possible, look at this AI video released by OpenAI's Sora:

AI Video
That is literally not a human being!

Stick around because I'm going to show you how to make this without ever even leaving the bedroom. I am Chris McCollins, a content creator and host with LMA Shopify. In this video, I'm going to show you the top seven AI video generators and, more importantly, how to use the most effective text-to-video prompts to get the most out of the AI tools that I'm going to mention.

Knowing how to prompt properly is so important because great prompts equal great videos. Don't know where to start? Well, you landed on the right video on YouTube. I spent days researching and I'm going to show you everything that I've learned right in this video.

Can AI Really Create the Kind of Video Content You Want?

You may be thinking: can AI really create the kind of video content you want to use for your business or social media, and is it as easy as it sounds? Let me show you.

This is only one portion of a four-part series on how to prompt like a pro. Make sure to check out the other three videos from our generative AI prompt engineering guide, but only after you watch this video.

What is Prompt Engineering?

It's basically giving AI a task using text. The more specific you are, the better. This is almost as good as thinking something into existence. It feels a little bit like being Iron Man and getting Jarvis to work for you, which has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. But it's no longer a dream.

You don't have to be a billionaire to have AI working for you full-time. You can just do it right now. So I'm going to get into how you can prompt like a pro.

What Can You Use These AI-Generated Videos For?

You can use them for all kinds of business marketing material, promo videos, explainer videos, tutorials, testimonials, FAQs, employee appreciation videos, social media content, paid ads, and a lot more. Honestly, if you can think of it, you can probably create it.

Types of AI-Generated Videos

We're going to make three different styles of AI-generated videos from scratch:

  1. Artistic and Unique: Getty image style compilations, usually with voiceovers and captions.
  2. Synthetic Actors: Actors who can star in your video and say what you want them to. Great for corporate style videos.

Keep in mind that the prompting for each platform differs slightly, but some principles should always be on your mind.

Video Magic Acronym

I've come up with something called the video magic acronym. I know it's a little cheesy, but it helps you remember everything better:

  • V is for Vision: Clarify your goal and your target audience.
  • I is for Illustration: What kind of visual elements do you want to see?
  • D is for Details: Specify the video format, word count, and duration.
  • E is for Essence: Determine the styles and colors.
  • O is for Objective: What are you trying to get people to do after watching the video?
  • M is for Mood: What should the video feel like?
  • A is for Audio: What kind of voice do you want to hear?
  • G is for Groove: What kind of music do you want to hear?
  • I is for Innovation: What will make your video stand out?
  • C is for Camera Movements: What kind of camera setups and movements do you want?

Stay with me, trust the process, and it's going to be worth it.
