My Bulletproof TikTok Ads TESTING Strategy (Step-by-step)

Introduction

In this article, I'm excited to share my entire TikTok testing strategy, which is simple yet highly effective. Over the last 2 to 3 years, this strategy has helped me identify multiple winning products each week. Before we dive into the detailed steps, there are three things you need to do:

  1. Claim TikTok Ad Credits: Check the description of this article for a link to claim TikTok ad credits. These credits can be hard to come by, usually expire quickly, and are a great way to run ads with free money. It's an opportunity I wish I had when I first started dropshipping nine years ago.

  2. Understand There's No One Best Strategy: Remember that there's no single best strategy. The best strategy is the one that works for you and generates profits. I recommend that you follow my methodology closely and then adapt it to create your own unique strategy.

  3. Engage with Me: Share your current level of experience with TikTok ads in the comments, along with the challenges you are facing. I'll respond personally to help, and I’ll even select two people to receive $ 500 each!

Now, let’s jump into the TikTok Ad Manager dashboard and start setting up your campaigns.

Step 1: Setting up the Campaign

  1. Create a New Campaign

    • Go to the TikTok Ads Manager and click on Create.
    • Select the Conversion objective and then choose Website Conversions.
  2. Campaign Name:

    • Name your campaign in a way that makes it identifiable. For example, "CBO Bubble Skirt Test" (CBO stands for Campaign Budget Optimization).
  3. Campaign Budget Optimization:

    • Enable CBO and set a daily budget of $ 50. This budget allows for effective testing as most dropshipping products are relatively low-ticket.

Step 2: Ad Set Level Configuration

  1. Optimization Location:

    • Make sure to select your pixel and choose the Complete Payment optimization event.
  2. Placement Settings:

    • Click on Select Placement, deselect Global App Bundle and Pangle to focus your ads on TikTok.
  3. Targeting Setup:

    • Don't target by individual interests initially. Instead, broaden your audience by targeting the United States and Canada.
    • Set age targeting from 18 to 55+ and select gender according to your product (e.g., women for a bubble skirt).
    • Choose English as the language.
  4. Budget & Schedule:

    • Schedule your ad set to start running the following day at midnight.

Step 3: Ad Level Configuration

  1. Smart Creative:

    • Enable Smart Creative to allow TikTok to automate variations in your ad designs.
  2. Identity:

    • Set up a custom identity. A recommended practice is to create a satellite page under a generic name and choose a selfie for a more organic feel.
  3. Video and Text Variations:

    • Upload 3 to 5 different videos, as well as 5 different text variations that highlight your offer.
  4. Call to Action:

    • Include multiple calls to action that encourage purchases, such as "Buy It Now" and "Shop Now".
  5. Destination Link:

    • Ensure the destination links to your product page and not just your homepage.

Final Steps

  • After setting everything up, publish your ad.
  • Copy the ad group several times (up to five times) to provide TikTok with more creative options, leading to better performance.
  • Let the campaign run for 48 hours. If you see no sales or significant purchase intent (like add-to-carts or initiations), consider pausing the campaign.

The setup is straightforward yet highly effective, and I hope these insights help you get started with your TikTok advertising campaigns.
