Introducing our new eCommerce supply chain software, SKUtopia.

Introduction

Now Work It Spaces has secured $ 900,000 from the federal government to bring its e-commerce supply and sale chain solution, SKUtopia, to market. This funding will go towards pilot testing, as SKUtopia aims to reduce waste in e-commerce operations. Talia Bader, co-founder and managing director, provided insights on this exciting venture.

What is SKUtopia?

SKUtopia is a product of Work It Spaces, which was established about three years ago to enable e-commerce businesses to thrive. While platforms like Shopify allow e-commerce businesses to scale from one order a day to ten thousand without changing their digital operations, SKUtopia empowers these businesses to grow from 1,000 to 10,000 orders a day in their physical operations. This means merchants utilizing their facilities and services won't have to alter their hiring practices, move to larger offices, or deal with complex logistics and leasing negotiations.

Addressing Inefficiencies in E-commerce

Bader explained that research conducted by Work It Spaces found that e-commerce businesses dispatching over 100 orders a week spend up to 40% of their operational time managing multiple inventory platforms and rectifying incorrect orders due to human error. SKUtopia offers a combined solution that includes inventory management, order management, and shipping management, while also launching an e-commerce fulfillment service by the end of the year.

This innovation not only aims to enhance operational efficiency but significantly reduces time and effort for e-commerce businesses.

Government Grant and Its Importance

The $ 900,000 grant from the government serves as validation for Work It Spaces' innovative approach and its contributions to the Australian economy. Bader shared that the grant process was extensive and took three to six months, highlighting the importance of having a strong product that can positively impact the economy. She advised other startups to allocate time and resources effectively when applying for such grants.

Pilot Program and Registration

The pilot program will be launched soon, and businesses interested in using SKUtopia can register at skutopia.com.au. Once operational, the process for clients will be streamlined. For instance, when a customer orders a product online, the order is sent to a robot in their e-commerce fulfillment facility. The robot retrieves the ordered item, and an employee uses innovative computer vision technology to ensure accuracy in picking. From there, a carton is custom-made for the product, printed with the client’s logo, and shipped directly to the customer’s address within one to four hours.

With plans to launch multiple fulfillment facilities across Australia, SKUtopia is poised to give smaller e-commerce businesses a competitive edge against larger players in the market.
