I Tried UK Dropshipping for 2 Years as a 15 Year Old
Introduction
Two years ago, at the age of 14, I embarked on my dropshipping journey with zero experience in making money online. I was aware of the risks involved but chose to take that risk anyway. This article chronicles what happened during that time, starting from my initial motivation and the challenges I faced, to my eventual successes and ongoing learning.
The Beginning: Inspiration and Motivation
My journey began when I was scrolling through TikTok and came across motivational videos featuring figures like Andrew Tate and David Goggins. Seeing their success inspired me to make a change in my life, as I wasn’t happy being without money. While watching these videos, I stumbled upon a specific TikTok about dropshipping that claimed I could promote products by making videos on TikTok and go viral without spending any money. I was skeptical but decided to jump in.
I joined a Discord server where aspiring dropshippers congregated. The owner of the server motivated us during group calls, and I felt energized to make my first attempt at online entrepreneurship. I spent my last $ 50 to join on August 25, 2022, unknowingly stepping into a life-changing venture.
Early Efforts: Trial and Error
After going through the course provided by the Discord group, I learned how to find potential products. I came across a mini protein powder tub, which I thought would resonate with my fitness-oriented audience. I poured hours into creating a website, which, despite its amateurish look, I believed would lead to generational wealth.
However, the next morning, I woke up to disappointing results: 300 views on one TikTok video and no sales. Frustrated yet motivated by the encouragement from fellow group members, I decided to continue posting. I spent more time trying to discover viral products, eventually choosing a large pistol product that had previously garnered attention. Unfortunately, my attempts yielded similar results—300 views and no sales. I deluded myself into thinking I was shadow-banned due to my lack of success.
The Discord server did conduct weekly product drops, and one week, I found a “special” Rubik's Cube which I thought had the potential to go viral. After a lengthy waiting period for its arrival, I posted my promotional TikToks again, securing 63,000 views on my first video. Although I was ecstatic, my excitement was short-lived as my account was banned by TikTok over the product’s nature.
Resilience: Continuing the Search
Determined to succeed, I tried a volcano humidifier next—it arrived broken. As I watched countless others make money off similar products, my frustration grew. However, one fortunate day, the owner of our server shared a high-potential product that had gone viral. My friend and I decided to collaborate and test its sales potential, believing the “water Glock” would be a winner.
I carefully crafted TikTok videos, and to my surprise, I found myself waking up to £1,000 in sales the following day. Amid the excitement, I realized my friend’s efforts hadn’t yielded the same results, triggering an ethical dilemma for me. In the end, I stuck to our earlier agreement and shared the profits—£1,300—which caused me great internal conflict.
Progress and Success: A Moment of Triumph
After seven months of hard work, perseverance, and overcoming countless setbacks, I finally found a winning product. My store began generating sales of £2,000 to £3,000 a day, culminating in a lucrative £20,000 in revenue. Despite these successes, I remain aware that I still have much to learn. I currently find myself in a new program where many participants are making high-quality content, pushing me to improve continuously.
Reflecting on this journey, I find the experience both humbling and enlightening. I invite readers to share their own stories or seek advice in the comments section below. Thank you for following my journey; it’s been a remarkable experience.
