I Tried TikTok Shop Affiliate for 14 days (realistic results)

Introduction

Over the last few months, I've been grinding on TikTok with the Creator Rewards program, and so far, the results have been decent. As many of you know, TikTok has introduced a new program called TikTok Shop Affiliate that has gained immense popularity. With many YouTubers showcasing their earnings, I had to dive in myself to see how it works.

What is TikTok Shop Affiliate?

TikTok Shop is a platform where you can sell products approved by TikTok. If you’ve been on TikTok, you’ve likely seen the shop icon that allows users to browse thousands of products and order them directly through TikTok. The attractive part of this program is that you can become an affiliate, selling these products without needing to own them. For every product sold through your promotions, TikTok offers you a commission. For example, if you showcase a cool keyboard and someone buys it directly from your video, you earn a cut from that sale.

Getting Started: Requirements and Challenges

To sell products through TikTok Shop, you need a few things:

  1. A US TikTok account
  2. US tax information and the ability to verify a US address
  3. At least 1,000 followers on your TikTok page

As I’m not from the USA, I faced a challenge finding a way to be accepted into the program without the necessary tax info and address. While I could sell the products, I’d have issues withdrawing my earnings. I discovered that while there was once a way to join without followers, it became unavailable.

Currently, here are two possible methods for newbies:

  1. Create a US TikTok account using a VPN or other methods, and grow your followers organically.
  2. Purchase an existing TikTok Shop account, which I chose to do to avoid headaches. I found one for $ 160 from a community member in AI Profit.

Despite searching for deals, I preferred paying a bit more to avoid being scammed again.

Finding Products to Sell

After securing my account, it was time to find products to sell. I browsed the product marketplace for items with 20-30% commissions, which would make promoting them worthwhile. Drawing from my dropshipping experience, I settled on three products:

  1. Neck, shoulder, and back massager with heating
  2. Multicollagen peptides
  3. Gwanda oil pulling cocoa mint oil

Creating Video Content

As I cannot order free samples, I had to find alternative methods for creating content. My options included:

  1. Ordering the products myself (time-consuming)
  2. Relying on a friend in the US to order samples and send me videos

Since shipping to Eastern Europe could take weeks, I opted for the second route and connected with fellow members of AI Profit, who could create videos for me.

Using tools like ChatGPT for scripts, 11 Labs for voiceovers, and MidJourney for visuals, I created AI-generated videos and utilized user-sent footage. Once I generated enough content, I prepared to add products to my TikTok videos.

First Week Results

After posting 10 videos in the first week, the results were modest yet encouraging:

  • Total Views: 22,000
  • Total Sales: 4 (3 from the neck massager, 1 from peptides)

Initially, engagement was low, but one of the videos featuring the neck massager eventually gained traction, leading to early sales.

Current Progress

As my venture progressed, I shifted focus towards promoting the peptides, leading to better performance. Ultimately, I made a total of 22 sales, amounting to around $ 90 in commissions. Surprisingly, the peptides outsold the neck massager, an unexpected twist!

Currently, my dashboard shows earnings of $ 134.90, which I plan to withdraw via PayPal. To clarify, I’m using my personal PayPal, which isn’t US-based.

Conclusion

In conclusion, venturing into TikTok Shop Affiliate has its pros and cons. Unlike the Creator Rewards program, selling through TikTok Shop requires a different approach and emphasis on persuading viewers to purchase products. While initially more challenging, mastering this process equips you with valuable marketing and sales skills. This journey may not yield immediate riches, but in the long run, it’s a worthy investment in skills, especially when considering creating multiple accounts and leveraging hired help for video creation.
