Today’s video is brought to you by Squarespace! Hello everyone, I hope you’re doing well! Recently, I created a video testing art supplies from TikTok Shop, which received an enthusiastic response, prompting requests for a second part. Here I am with Part Two!

What is TikTok Shop?

For those unfamiliar, TikTok Shop is a marketplace within the notoriously viral platform, TikTok. Over time, it’s gained popularity among artists and creators as a space to sell their products, though success can be hit or miss. I wanted to conduct a social experiment by signing up for my own TikTok shop; however, my application was denied due to verification requirements regarding an American address. Despite the setback, I decided to purchase some new markers since my previous ones were dried out after years of use.

My Purchase

After much consideration and based on your recommendations, I chose to buy the Ohuhu markers, which are incredibly popular on TikTok. I got the 216-color marker set. Initially, I debated purchasing the gigantic set but ultimately opted for a more manageable amount. I want to use these markers to fill my coloring and activity book, which is set to launch in December.

I should mention that I've been approached by Ohuhu for promotional work numerous times, but I've never accepted any. Thus, my opinions are unbiased and purely based on my experiences.

Unboxing and Organization

The markers came in an impressive carrying case. With a variety of beautiful colors, I was already ecstatic even before trying them out. Ohuhu offers two types of markers: brush nibs and bullet point nibs. As someone who dislikes chisel nibs, I picked the ones that suit my style. To organize my markers efficiently, I also purchased an Ohuhu pen organizer, which has a lovely bamboo scent. Unfortunately, it was too small to hold all my new markers, as it only accommodates 120 colors.

After spending about 45 minutes arranging them according to the official swatch card, I realized I would need to purchase a larger organizer.

Testing the Ohuhu Marker Pad

In addition to markers, I ordered an Ohuhu marker pad, specifically designed to prevent ink bleed-through. Having seen endorsements from various creators, I was eager to see how it performed. I printed coloring pages from my upcoming book to test it out.

The book, titled Draw Your Own Adventure, will be released on December 17th. The concept of the book is to foster creativity, helping you combat art block through prompts that guide you through illustrations.

I printed some sample pages, including a prompt involving an iceberg scene. After sketching a few elements, I started to use the Ohuhu markers, noting their blending capabilities. While they don’t blend as smoothly as some higher-end brands like Copic markers, they still performed nicely on the Ohuhu paper.

Results and Conclusions

The results were impressive: no bleed-through occurred even with heavy use! I genuinely enjoyed the process and was pleased with how vibrant the colors were, even if blending required some practice on my part.

I also accidentally received a set of fine liners that resembled Micron pens, although they were a copycat version. I tried these pens out alongside the Ohuhu markers in my illustration.

In essence, my experience with the TikTok Shop art supplies was predominantly positive. I'm thankful I finally have new markers, and I’m excited to further explore my artistic endeavors once my book is launched!
