How To Fix Unoriginal Content Strikes On TikTok | Episode 4

Introduction

Welcome back to Episode 4 of my journey creating a TikTok theme page from scratch. Since the last episode, which I regret took so long to post, I’ve encountered several challenges—especially concerning unoriginal content strikes. This article elaborates on my experiences, updates, and what I've learned along the way.

Recap of the Journey So Far

As a quick recap, when I last posted, we had successfully made our first £600, surpassing our original goal of $ 500 in just over a month. At that point, our follower count was around 25,000, which put us halfway towards our goal of 50,000 followers.

Challenges Faced

Unfortunately, right before the last episode, I was kicked out of the TikTok Creativity Program due to unoriginal content. It was a frustrating experience because I wasn’t fully aware of the videos that had been banned. Had I known, I could have appealed them in time.

Despite losing access to the program, I still kept the £600 I had earned. To stay productive, I spent a day bulk-creating videos, making me reluctant to publish them without receiving any payment. Instead, I shifted to creating quick, swipe-type videos that are easy to make and tend to do well in terms of engagement.

Shifting Focus

I realized that this setback was an opportunity. I had always wanted to monetize this page in various ways and create products. As a response to the challenges, I developed a motivational page growth kit—a digital product designed to help users grow their TikTok pages. This kit included tutorial videos, sounds, and other resources to help others replicate my success.

To sell this product, I used Beacons to create an online store. Once everything was set up, I put the link in my TikTok bio and began promoting it alongside my content. Fortunately, the new approach worked. I began to see viral videos, increasing my traffic and attracting potential customers.

Initial Sales

At first, I priced the product at $ 24.99 but didn’t see significant sales. After adjusting the price to $ 19.99, I began to see some consistent sales. I then introduced a lower-priced item—a tutorial for $ 1.99—to funnel followers toward the main product.

This tutorial included a detailed video on how to make videos using CapCut, clarifying that anyone could create high-quality content, encouraging them to purchase the growth kit for more advanced resources.

Instagram Experimentation

On October 21st, I also expanded to Instagram to further promote my TikTok page. I had about 650 followers in a month despite the slow start. One video even garnered around 70,000 views. However, I found that trying to sell products too early on Instagram could hinder growth.

Back in the Program

After about a month of being out of the Creativity Program, I reapplied and successfully returned. In that time, I earned an additional £200 with TikTok’s Creativity Program. However, this amount was lost due to alleged security issues.

The fluctuating RPM (Revenue Per Mille) depending on the target audience highlighted the importance of knowing the market. Audience demographics greatly impact earnings from TikTok ads, which is something to consider when creating content.

Total Earnings

After measuring the collective revenue from my products—$ 28 from the $ 1.99 tutorial and approximately $ 320 from the primary product—I ended up earning around $ 600 total over the two months of running this page. While it may not seem extravagant, the potential for growth remains significant, especially with continued effort.

The freedom to develop multiple income streams is why I emphasize that attempting to establish an online business has no hidden costs, making it accessible for anyone wanting to try.

Conclusion

The journey proves to be a rollercoaster of ups and downs, but it has been enriching. If you’re looking to start your own TikTok page or monetize similar content, focus on high-quality, original videos and establish your products.

Here are a few actionable tips:

  1. Make Videos Original: Use multiple clips and add your own filters.
  2. Add Value to Your Content: Include additional text or logos which can appeal to the TikTok algorithm.
  3. Test Different Formats: Experiment with product prices and type to see what resonates with your audience.
