How to Change Your TikTok Region/Location and Join the Creator Fund (2021)

Hello everyone and welcome to my first YouTube video! Today, I'm going to teach you how to change your TikTok location and join the Creator Fund to get paid from any country in the world. Before we get started, I would really appreciate it if you subscribe to this new channel, as I will be posting more tutorials and tips about TikTok and other ways to get paid online.

As you might have noticed, TikTok is region-based, which means your For You Page (FYP) and videos will always be shown to users from your region. This creates a challenge for users in smaller countries trying to grow their presence and also imposes limitations on new TikTok features. In this article, I will show you how to trick TikTok into thinking you're located in the U.S., though this method works for other countries as well.

Two Methods to Change Your TikTok Location

Method 1: Using a Foreign SIM Card

  1. Remove Your Current SIM Card: To change your location to a different country, you first need a SIM card from that country. For example, if you want to appear as though you're in the U.S., you must use a U.S. SIM card.
  2. Insert the Foreign SIM Card: Replace your current SIM card with the foreign one. TikTok bases your location partly on the SIM card in use.
  3. Open TikTok App: Once you start using your phone with the foreign SIM card, TikTok will display content as if you are located in the target country.

Method 2: Using a VPN

  1. Remove Your Current SIM Card: Like the SIM card method, you must first remove your current SIM card. TikTok tracks your location based on your SIM card.
  2. Download a VPN App: Download a reliable VPN app. Personally, I use VPN 360 from the App Store because it's free, fast, and connects automatically every time I use the internet. However, any other VPN app will also work.
  3. Change Your IP Address: Open the VPN app and change your IP to the desired country's IP address (e.g., a U.S. IP).
  4. Open TikTok App: Now that your SIM card is removed and the VPN is connected, open TikTok, and you'll notice a change in your For You Page.

Applying for the TikTok Creator Fund

Once you've successfully changed your location and if you have over 10,000 followers and at least 10,000 video views in the past 30 days, you're eligible to apply for the TikTok Creator Fund.

Important Notes:

  • Since December 2020, some users have experienced issues with changing their location using a VPN. If the VPN method doesn't work for you or stops working, subscribe to my channel as I will be making another video to address this issue step by step.
