5 TikTok Settings you Should Change Right Now

Introduction

Hey everyone! In today's TikTok video, I'm excited to show you five very important settings that you should change right now. Plus, I've included a bonus tip that will save you a lot of space on your phone. Ready to jump in? Let's get started!

1. Privacy: Suggest Your Account to Others

First, click the three dots on the Me page to access your settings. Navigate to Privacy. Here, you'll find "Suggest your account to others." By default, TikTok might access your contacts and your Facebook friends list if you've given it access. To maintain your privacy, turn these options off. Conversely, if you wish to give TikTok access to these contacts, this is where you can turn these settings on.

2. Use Off-TikTok Activity and Ad Targeting

Next up is data privacy. Still under Privacy, look for Use off-TikTok activity and ad targeting. To ensure that TikTok doesn't track your activities in any way, turn this setting off. You can read more about what this means on this page. Additionally, you have the option to download all your TikTok information here.

3. Liked Videos

On the same Privacy page, scroll to the bottom where you'll see Liked videos. Change this setting to Only me so that people on TikTok can't see the videos you've liked before. Keeping this private is always a good idea for privacy reasons.

4. Filter Comments

Navigate to Comments. Here, you'll find the option to Filter keywords or Filter spam comments. Make sure these are turned on. You can also input specific keywords to filter out offensive comments. This helps in keeping your comment section clean and respectful.

5. Two-Step Verification

For enhanced security, go to Security and Login and turn on Two-step verification. This added layer of security ensures that even if someone gets your username and password, they still can't access your account without a text message verification. If you're growing your TikTok account, consider turning on Income plus verification as an additional security measure.

Bonus: Clear Cache

Lastly, we've got a bonus tip for you. Scroll down in your settings to find Clear cache. TikTok may cache information that takes up a significant amount of space on your phone. Select this option to clear it back to zero megabytes and free up space.
