0-$2000 TikTok Creativity Program Challenge

Introduction

A month ago, I set an ambitious challenge for myself: to earn over $ 1,000 through TikTok’s recently renamed Creator Rewards program. What made this challenge especially intriguing was my desire to achieve this goal the “lazy way” by re-uploading already viral videos in a manner that would trick the algorithm into thinking they were brand new. Although TikTok typically frowns upon such actions, I embarked on this journey, unaware of the unexpected events that awaited me. Surprisingly, my account got monetized, and I even managed to rack up 20 million views on one of my videos! Here’s how I navigated this challenge, along with the ups and downs of my journey.

Chapter 1: The Niche that Printed Millions of Views

Finding the right niche was the first and most crucial step in my challenge. After hours of scrolling, I stumbled upon a niche that was not only controversial but also easily bingeable—Americans going through Border Patrol checkpoints and refusing to state their citizenship. This niche was engaging for several reasons:

  1. Viewers were curious about how agents treated individuals at checkpoints, leading to longer watch times.
  2. The controversial nature sparked discussions in the comments, boosting engagement and overall views.

With these elements in place, I realized this niche held significant potential for going viral. However, I needed a strategy for re-uploading existing videos without violating TikTok’s guidelines.

Chapter 2: Going Viral

To make the re-uploaded videos appear original, I had to circumvent TikTok’s pixel recognition algorithm, which detects previously uploaded content. Here’s what I did:

  1. I sourced the original footage I wanted to re-upload.
  2. I made numerous minor adjustments—including mirroring the video, altering its height and width, adding bold subtitles, and incorporating satisfying visuals at the bottom.

I knew this was a gamble, but I uploaded the modified video that had previously garnered 3.9 million views. To my astonishment, after about 10 days, it blew up, resulting in an additional 7,000 followers—bringing my total to 10,000. I applied for the Creator Rewards program and faced initial rejection. However, after appealing, my application was accepted. TikTok appeared to be fine with my content, and I was finally monetized!

Chapter 3: Let the Money Roll In

After monetization, I continued to post similar content, but my newfound success was not as easy to replicate. Lacking further viral hits, I brainstormed and decided to re-upload my earlier viral video with enough changes to bypass the algorithm again. Surprisingly, it went mega viral, pulling in a staggering 20 million views, which netted me $ 712 in a single day! Over the next few days, the earnings climbed to over $ 2,000. I was ecstatic!

Adding to the excitement, I purchased a TikTok account for $ 500 to see if it could generate additional profits. However, I plan to discuss the results in a follow-up video, so don't forget to subscribe!

Chapter 4: Reality Hits

Despite the financial success, I soon faced a reality check. After making approximately $ 2,200 through the re-uploading strategy, I woke up one morning to discover that TikTok had disqualified my account and seized all my earnings. I appealed again, but this time, my request was denied.

Still committed to transparency, I saw various accounts employing similar strategies without facing disqualification. For example, some creators simply added their faces to existing content, while others utilized creative effects like Audio Waves to create the illusion of original content. TikTok seems increasingly to scrutinize higher-earning accounts, making it crucial to tread carefully.

As for my purchased TikTok account, the experiment yielded interesting results that I’ll share in an upcoming video, so stay tuned!
